The main thing I wish I'd known before starting, was that it can difficult/problematic for a beneficiary to get a tourist/travel (B-2) visa after the K-1 visa process has started.  If there is any chance the beneficiary would want to visit the US, and they don't currently have a valid visa, it might be a good idea to apply for a B-2 visa before starting the K-1 process.

Thanks!

I will write my embassy experience tomorrow. You can check my timeline here to see the time it took me from begin to end.

I was looking for your timeline and I didn't see it. I am fairly new to this website so I don't know how to navigate it as yet but I'll keep looking.

Many of you have been approved and I would invite you to get your SSN within a week of arrival. This will help you to be added to any financials that your future husband/wife has which is one of the steps that is required to show that you are co-mingling your bank accounts and other assets. Once you are married then return with your marriage certificate and have a new one produced that will have your new married name and now you are prepared to enter the work force once you get your EAD (work permit). @NewYorker14

Welcome to VJ. We hope you have a smooth ride and if you have any questions there are many her then can help. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Hi VJ friends, my fiancé has her interview next week and we are told all complete by the embassy so I don’t think there will be any issues, I’m guess she will have her K1 visa around the second week of February and be in the US around the third week.

We are getting married 3/17 how long after or what is the time frame on doing the Adjustment of status?

I’m looking up now, thanks.

You have 90 days to marry and submit the AOS.
