Our petition was finally mailed out today from the NVC!!! Congrats to all the other couples who got theirs shipped out as well :)

Now it's time to patiently wait for packet 3 ... unfortunately in Germany we need to wait for it before we can mail our visa application or schedule an interview.

There are many things that you can be working on to prepare for the interview and you don't hae to wait for the P3.

Hey guys, I got my packet 3 today and my medical is scheduled for the 28th (was supposed to be 3 weeks ago but I had to cancel it back then).

I caught a cold and can't stop coughing now so was wondering will that be an issue at the medical exam? I know it sounds stupid so I tried calling that doctor's office before embarrassing myself here, but nobody answered. Any other wuss here besides me?

A cold will not have an undue affect on whether you can do your medical or not. Just go and get that portion out of the way.

was your letter just basic K1 process steps for instructions? Mine was yet it says to follow the instructions which is just a canned statement for everyone with nothing specific to our petition or how the schedule the interview, I have to believe once the embassy gets our petition it will give us instructions how to schedule the interview with specifics to our case so I wonder if this NVC email is to make aware of  "In Transit' status and just an overall canned email.

The NVC letter (email) is confirming and giving you a hard copy of your case number. Usually it's required for some steps to the interview like medical. Why don't you go to the embassy website and look around and see what you can find. Foremost you should find an email address to which you can communicate that your case is in transit and you would like instructions.

@Greenbaum thank you for the links. I just wanted to clarify if you meant that I don't have to wait for the P3 in order to schedule my interview? Because that is what I read on a German subforum, and the Frankfurt US Consulate's homepage also said to not book an interview before being given the green light to do so. .... I would be very happy to discover that I can book it now after all.

Luckily, I have already gotten the visa documents ready that I need (police certificates, medical done, DS 160, etc etc).

It can take a day to a few weeks to have the NVC letter. Be patient.

Oh yes I’m well aware of how long it can take :P They emailed my fiance a letter with a bar code and our case number and uscis receipt number though, a few hours after our case had been updated to in transit in ceac so I’m actually waiting for the ready confirmation now ^^

Just got my case number, and confirmed it is being sent to the London Consulate!!!!!

The wait for an interview is a month, and for a medical is about 3 weeks. If I get married almost immediately when I enter California (checked the court house waiting times and is only a week). Can someone give me a rough idea of when I might be able to start a job in California? Assuming I file as soon as I am married?

Any help appreciated.

The AOS processing times at all the California field offices are very different; you can find the field office that covers your zip code on the USCIS web site and then use that to check I-485 processing times. I don't think any of them are fast enough to have a good chance of getting a green card before you'd get EAD (4-6 months after filing; processed at the National Benefits Center for everyone) though. So 4-6 months + however long it takes to find a job (unless you can find someone who will make you an offer contingent on approval).

You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

This is the Packet 3 (P3) letter from your Embassy.

https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/the-interview-2/

There is a lot of information on the Embassy for Brazil here https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/frequently-asked-questions-non-immigrant-visas/

A thread were a lot of chatter about the process for the Brazil Embassy and interview

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/679652-nvc-to-interview-in-rio-brazil/?page=10

Thank you so much @Greenbaum!  The information you've given me both here and in your other posts has really helped me along!
