Hello there,

So my wife got here to the USA using a K1 Visa to marry me on March 2017. We got married on April and applied for AOS I-485. We applied in May 2017 and barely got our interview notice. I noticed the receipt says I must bring Affidavit of support documents. We already submit them in the pocket we sent back in May 2017. Do I need to get new ones? Or just a copy of the documents I send back in my original pocket is fine? Any other tips you recommend will be gladly appreciated. Yes we are very excited and kind of scared at the same time. i guess it's normal.

An updated VOE stating your annual salary may be helpful. That is if you are on an hourly wage and not a salaried income that hasnt changed. Also, current paystubs again if you are on hourly wages to show how much you have earned in your annual income up until the point of your interview. Paystubs are also helpful if they show your marital status has been changed to "married" for tax purposes.

Does your I-797 notice say to "Bring the completed I-864, with all the evidence....(unless already submitted)"?

I submitted all the I-864 stuff with my I-485 application, and nothing had really changed with us income--wise, so I'm not bringing any copies of the I-864 docs. Is this unwise?

Hi! We brought our original i-864 and supporting documents to our interview. We also brought an updated employment/wage verification to show I’m still employed at the same place and the same salary as when we submitted our AOS. I also brought recent bank statements and wage statements from after we submitted AOS. Our interviewer did not ask to see any of it. However, I highly advise bringing it all just in case. We brought all of our original submissions (I-485 1-864 and supporting documents) and it was a good thing because USCIS had lost one of our documents. Be over prepared. It’s better to have more than you need than not enough. Good luck!!

You don’t have to bring it if you’ve already submitted it but I wouldn’t take any chances. I brought mine and although I didn’t need the whole thing the officer did ask me for a form that they had lost. It’s better to bring everything and not need it than not bring it and need it.
