Hi.

Mum fiancé and I have just started the process for me to move to Texas, marry & live happily ever after.

With so much reading, my concern is the medical.

Being honest I was admitted to hopsital depressed & engaging in self harm. This was over 13yrs ago. I was never diagnosed with a mental illness and I’m not on medication. I am thriving. I just had a rough time & didn’t know how to cope.

Im worried with this history. Does anyone know if it will delay anything or become an issue. Any experience or knowledge of this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I’m in a similar boat. I have been 100% honest on my medical questionnaire and I have a note from my doctor to say I am at no risk of harming myself etc. I would get as much paperwork about your history as possible and also a note from your doctor

First always be honest with your answer during this process. Second, yes this may slow down the process but not eliminate you from moving toward a visa. Most medical centers that do the visa medical's will ask you a series of questions and self harm and physical observation will take place. Be honest and tell them your history. Third, they will probably recommend you to their phycologist who will interview and take you history. Based on that interview, he/she will write up their findings and recommendations and pass them to your Embassy. The decision will be made by your report and the CO, once your interview has concluded. Don't get discourage, as I have seen many with similar cases get an approval. Good luck.
