So, I was just told by paralegal who works on cases like that - she confirmed that photocopy is fine. They most likely were too lazy to browse through the papers - might have been gone unnoticed or simply lost.  From her words - front page photocopy is sufficient. I will have to come up with the decision now :))

I sent an original certified copy with a tangible seal. The courthouse asked me if I wanted extra certified copies of my marriage certificate and I told them yes (knowing I would need extra ones).

You only need to send photocopies unless they specifically ask for a certified copy. Most of us have been approved just fine with photocopies of everything, including important documents like marriage certificates and birth certificates, as that is all USCIS normally requires.

Once in a while USCIS will ask for certified copies for whatever reason. And, once in a while they lose documents. That's likely the issue you have encountered, they lost your certificate or forgot to scan it in, so now they ask you for another copy.

Thank you for your response,Scandi. I want to believe they lost it.  Will also give it a shot and try contacting USCIS tomorrow about this - to confirm! It would really hurt to get a second RFE (and I don't even know how many of them you can get),as there is always risk involved.

Thank you! I clearly remember that it was Marriage Cert copy. So you think not necessary to certify it? just send a plain photocopy once again? What exactly did you send to them,if you did?

We sent a copy of the certificate we got in the mail about 3 weeks after.
