I guess using the word "normal", when discussing the US Govt, isn't the best word, so maybe the word "common" is better.

Is it common to receive a letter from the NVC that they received an approved petition, when, I have yet to receive an NOA2 in the mail??

Our petition was approved two weeks ago. This is per the USCIS.gov website and resultant email. So I expected to receive the official NOA2 in the mail within a week or so. A couple days ago I still hadn't received the NOA2 and called USCIS customer service. They stated that it may take up to 30 days to receive the NOA2 and if I don't receive it by the first of June to call them back. OK. I was fine with that. But then today I received a letter from the NVC stating they received the approved petition, case # and will be forwarding petition to embassy within a week.

From what I understand, I am suppose to send a copy of the NOA2 to my fiancé' (along with other documents) for her to use as needed. Well she may get her packet before I get my NOA2.

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Many thanks.

I wouldnt worry about sending the copy of your NOA2, Its only a notice to you that the petition has been approved. If it hasnt been approved there is no way it would be at the embassy, so sending the NOA2 is kind of redundent.

My file has been sent by NVC to Bangkok Embassy and I haven't received my NOA2. So it must be common. Ken

Noifications have been really slow lately, probably has to do with the 60,000 H1B visas that they need to processes. We were approved last week, but only this week did we get an email notification, and I doubt I will see the NOA2 in the email for another few weeks.

Your NOA2 notice will be required in the future for AOS but not until then so it is important to get eventually so it is NOT redundant. As was stated the CSC is way overloaded right now

YMMV

Well, I just learned something new. I didn't realize that the NVC also issues a letter....I thought after NOA2 all communication went to the beneficiary. So the petitioner receives a paper letter from NVC, before the petition is sent to the beneficiary's consulate? Just want to confirm I'm reading the above posts correctly.

Thanks,

-P

We received a "snail mail" letter from NVC, which was sent to my hubby, the USC. Not everyone has received NVC letters, if I remember correctly.

The key here is making sure you have the NOA2, because you will need it for filing AOS after marriage.

Yes. I received a snail mail letter from the NVC yesterday. Stating they received the approved petition and within a week they will forward it to the embassy. Also in the letter is our case number (different from the receipt number you got with the NOA1).

Does everyone receive a snail mail letter from the NVC? Not sure. Any correspondence at all from them? Again, not sure.

I'll just have to call the NVC and ask when they actually received it so I can keep the time line up-to-date.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
