Ok, so here it goes:

I showed up on time -actually like 15 minutes before my appointment (say 10 a.m.) First nurse measured and weighed me (happy to report a 50 kg. weight he he  ) and checked my vision.. Was ushered by nurse like 30 minutes after my appointment into this really tiny exam room.

:help:STRIP. PUT ON SH!!!!TTY PAPER THINGY. :help:

Dr. Chana comes in, asks all kinds of questions for medical history, some as funny as "Have you ever attacked/assaulted anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs?" ...... This after I told him that I don't drink AT ALL. hmmmmmm  .

After interrogation, the physical ensues... "medical" poking here and there - quite professional, but still uncomfortable to have someone besides Bren poking my booooooobs :crying: .

Sends me off with 3 sheets to the Royal Alexandria Hospital to get X-ray and blood work. About 1.5 hours in the Royal Alexandria - people didn't know what to do with the forms, quite the fuzz. ARGHHH

Back home exhausted and famished circa 2 p.m. (Bren askes to add "irritable" to the list... since he didn't get his privates looked at  )

TOTAL COST 220 CAD plus 10 cab fare.

Rating in profesionalism: 8 (I would much rather have a female doctor, or at least a nurse in the room at the time of the exam. He was not creepy but still was too impersonal and weird.) Unfortunately he is the ONLY doctor in Edmonton who does the exam.

Anyways, one less hurdle. Results should be ready next wednesday. :D

p.s. Called MTL and they said still chance for june/july interview.

I didn't mind Dr Chana.

I jumped the gun a while back and got that part done. I was told by someone at the Consulate I could get the Medical with the NOA1. I was already in with Chana before the receptionist realized that was the wrong info. They are holding my results and it is already paid for.

I was mad about the eye exam. My eyes were a little buggy from the snow glare driving there, and then I made the mistake of looking up at the floresent lights they had. I asked her if she could give me a minute to adjust my eyes and she ignored me. I also didn't like that you only did the bottom 2 lines!! I have good eyesight, never had glasses or contacts and they were tiny letters! I think I got one wrong.

I was being friendly and chatty with the Receptionist, talking about how this process turns you into a nutcase, she replied "Ya, we hate dealing with immigration people." B*tch!!!

Their case is DCF for an immigrant visa which is completely different than K visas.

thanks for the review! i'll be getting my medical done there in 2-3 weeks. i was hoping Dr. Chana would be female, but oh well.

one question though, you had to go to the Royal Alex? when i called Dr. Chana's office, they said that they had a contract for the blood work and x-rays at the Hys Center, so i'm a little confused. either way, i guess it doesn't matter - they're all downtown and somewhat close to each other. i was told about a 4-5 day turnaround for the results as well.

The receptionist DID tell me that day that I could ONLY go to the Royal Alexandria... but god only knows. If it was elsewhere, I secreeeewed up royally. Sh!t. Now I will call Monday see what the receptionist tells me.

Oh -- how long did it take from the day you scheduled your medical to the day you had it? The boy is saying that he probably won't have the paperwork gathered and completed until Friday (because he works during the day) and I'm like WAAHH FINISH IT TONIGHT!

I scheduled my medical 3 weeks in advance or so. He can call and make the appointment as long as he has some correspondence from MTL with case number, 3 photos and passport - oh, and vaccination records (which doesn't matter much since they can do a titration test).

Awesome, thanks. I know he's going to make the appt on Tuesday. I was just hoping that it wouldn't take months to get seen because that would totally screw with the timeline. :)

I left a message, I just hope they call me back soon.

Let's hope so my friend... and let's hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot by going to the Royal Alexandria instead of the HYS thing.... do you think it will make a difference???? After all, they're all Capital Health facilities, aren't they?????????????? I feel like such an idiot.

i will make sure to confirm whether it's the royal alex or hys that i have to go to for my xray, etc, when i book my app't AND when i'm there. don't need any mix-ups, that's for sure... not now.

could you please post the phone number for dr. chana's office someone? i'm here in wichita visiting my fiance and would like to phone and book my appointment for as soon as possible after i get home.

thx in advance!

oh, to the OP - what did you all bring with you to the medical? i can't find my vaccination records so i had the titers (sp?) done, so the results should be waiting for me when i get back home. i do remember they said that had to be brought along to the medical, along with proof of an up to date tetanus shot - which i'll also have to book when i get home. argh! so much to do!! lol
