Timeline

Our visa journey is almost finished... and it was all too easy. My fiancee said the interview was the easiest thing ever. They asked her 1 questions, "How did you meet your fiance?", and then said congrats! Here is a paper for tomorrow morning that you will bring and pick up your visa." She even mentioned to them when they took her papers, and affidavit of support if they were going to take the required documents it asked for... they replied... no don't worry about it... oh wait just your birth certificate. Oh well, guess some cases are more straight forward than others.

One upsetting thing I do have to mention is about my fiancee's interview buddy that she met there who spoke only russian from belarus. My fiancee said nobody spoke english there. Anyway, this young woman asked my fiancee.. "do you love your fiance?" A bit shocked about the question, my fiancee answers "umm of course!" Her response was... "I don't think I love him... I'll go to the states... see how it goes if I like it there or not... if things dont work out with my husband.. whatever I'll stay there." a few min later she returns to my fiancee after her interview and says... "could you believe they asked me if my fiance was ever married and I said no because he never told me he has. They said I was wrong and that he was married before." and then she continued to say... "I got my visa."

Hmm

So anyway... Part two of the journey will come soon with the AOS. I wish everyone luck with their interviews. If you have a clean background, and if you speak english (people were asking my fiancee if she was american), and you have the required documents, you have NOTHING to worry about. So for the people out there that were in my same boat, have a clean-cut case... don't sweat it! Now, if you have a past... especially a shaddy past, I am sure things might be a bit more difficult. I do have to admit, my fiancee said the interviewer was quite happy she didnt have to talk through a translator again. She said the interviewer had a huge white smile on her face.

Good luck everyone!

Practice interview questions

http://www.fiddlers.us/questions/

This is the link for practice interview questions (I got it off an old VJ post). I printed a copy, drew a single line through the questions that did not apply to us, answered the ones that I though might be difficult for Teddy (some of the questions were worded very oddly), and mailed him a copy. Teddy reviewed the questions on his own and we did it together for the last two weeks before the interview. When we talked on the phone I'd ask him a question or two and I also make up questions of my own.

Please be sure to pass this along to anyone and EVERYone. Helped Teddy's confidence a ton. He was diligent about reviewing our entire application, evidence, and practice questions 2 times a day before the interview. Maybe it was over kill but, it made it easy for us and he had a quick (3 minute!) interview. The 6 others who interviewed for K1s on his day averaged a 30 minute interview and they were all denied.

Well my fiancee's visa is in hand, she leaves for the USA tomorrow morning. Again, I will say... the interview was simple for her, just 1 question they asked... and that was how did we meet? They also didnt even take the supporting documentation with the I-134. Don't be nervous people... if you know your fiance(e), you love them, your past is clean... they already pretty much know their decision before they interview you. My fiancee said they had a thick pink folder with her name on it already before she got to the interview. Good luck to the rest of you all!
