Interview questions

I just heard from the consulate in Frankfurt that they assigned my interview date on March 31, which leaves me about 7 days to collect the necessary documents.

That is very difficult given that it takes some time to get a police certificate. Does anyone know what would happen if I went to the interview without all required documents? The letter they sent states that that would be grounds for visa denial. Ist that true or is there a way to submit any missing information after the interview?

They also want me to pay again for the visa even though we've already paid for it per IV-bill at the NVC. Do I need to prove that or should that be in the file?

I think you should call NVC and talk to some over there and explain ‘em your current situation. It is very weird that they want you to submit visa bill twice.

i dont really know about your visa but if you apply for k1 and dont have your police certificate frankfurt allows you to just hand it in later...you wont get your visa though unless all the required documents are there!

Don'r worry, if you've already paid for the visa - they won't tell you to do that again. All the info must be in your "file". If not, make sure you can prove the fact of the payment.

When I got the letter of invitaion for my interview they specifically noted how much I will need to pay for my visa but at the Embassy they told me not to make any payments because it'd been already paid for by my husband.

Okay go to the interview and take all evidence you have. Do the interview and they should issue you a 221 g which is not a denial; also called AR/AP. On this slip it should say needs more evidence. Most tell you come back or call with the evidence and then tell you to come back with or without an appointment. If your cleared on name check and all is good they will issue the visa if they are able too that day or will courrier it to you.

Take your copies of where you paid. On my husbands file it was marked on top of file it was paid up but he did take the receipts just in case. Good luck and your zooming right along.

Thanks everyone. I called the consulate today and they that it's no problem if something is missing. I'd just have to send it in when I get it.

They also said I did not have to pay again if my husband paid the NVC which does not send the file on to teh consulate unless it's paid. I have to see if he can mail the receipt to me in less that 5 days, but I guess I could even send that in later.

Basicallly, they send a standard checklist for everyone and then it's pick and choose depending on the case. If they just said so in their letter... ;)

Thanks, Jim. I wish it were that easy, but in Germany there's a central database to which request can only be mailed from a certain office in each town. I guess some Germans adore bureaucracy. ;)
