Hi All-

I will be submitted my Adjustment of Status packet in next week for my Husband who arrived on a K-1. We got married 2 weeks ago today. I haven't changed my last name yet with Social Security but would like to sometime in the near future. As well, I don't want it to cause any issues during the processing time for the name submitted with the form to vary from my legal name change within the next month or so. Any issues with the time frame of when I should do this or should I wait until everything is completed?

Thank you in advance!

Wrong forum for this question,  however, No issues.   You can change your name anytime you wish.

YMMV

The marriage certificate is a legal name change document. You can file for AOS under a married name (and should do so as that's the name that will be on the EAD, AP, and green card).

Updating the name with the SSA is suggested as well, but not required for AOS purposes.

Edit: I just noticed you are the petitioner. Definitely no issue.
