My wife (an alien) and I ( a US citizen ) had our AOS interview two month ago in Miami and still haven’t received anything. We will have to move to Texas in the near future and we were told that it is possible that we will have to start the adjustment of status procedure from the beginning, including the interview. Is this true?, any advice??

No, this is not true. All you need to do is send in your change of address. No need to reapply.

Thank you for your comment...

I still have another question: If I send my change of address, are they going to transfer the case to the Service Center in Texas, closer to my new address? Or do they have to wait for me to explicitly ask for the given transfer? I would rather not to ask for the transfer because I have read many cases of documents lost in those transfers. Furthermore, we already had our AOS interview in Miami and I hope my case is well in advance.

I really cannot answer that question as I am not sure. However, if the following information is anything to go by then I would not worry.....

When we filed for our K-1, then subsequently relocated, we were told that the case would finish processing at the original service center and would not be transferred due to the move.

My advice.... don't try to second guess anything. Just submit the change of address like they tell you to and relax. You'll make yourself miserable doing anything less.

You cannot request a transfer to any service center. You file AR-11 & follow up with an Infopass appt to make sure your address is changed.

Thank you... However, my concern is related to the possibility of having to start the process again after moving, in particular, to have to reschedule the interview and everything else. In short, do the USCIS is going to transfer the entire case to Texas even though it is well in advance in Florida?.

They should transfer it to your new area.

File the AR-11 and the I865 (the sponsers change of address). If the AR-11 is filed online you should receive snail mail confirming the change of address. If posted, you wont have a clue. The sponsers form will not be notified via mail.

Phone the misinformation line about a week after your filing the above.

Follow that up with a infopass at around 2-3 weeks at your new District Office to make sure everything is in order and your case will be transferred.

Stay proactive with your case until you are sure that you know where it is and at what stage of processing.

I think you will have to "fall in line" with all the other cases that are submitted to the new district office in Texas. However, any work that has already been completed on your wife's case (fingerprint check, name check, etc.) will be recorded on her case file and she won't have to go through them again.

Did you already receive your notice of initial interview?

Thank you very much... Yes, we already had our interview two months ago. This is our main concern, because we do not want to go through it again. The USCIS hinted that we may be asked to be interviewed again. Does that make any sense to you?

Did they say you were in namecheck? Have you ever tried to track your case online - it may be more helpful.
