Hello,

A month before my I-129f was submitted, I was laid off. However, my unemployment income still makes it over the income required mark. My question is " Besides the regular documents that is usually needed to fill out the I-134, what else would I need for my case?" Is there a certain document that I'd need to request from unemployment? Please help!

Usually at embassy stage...

W-2 and 1040 forms and 1099's if any or simply tax transcripts

letter from employer with wages, time employed there and other info

letter from bank stating the averages and/or length of accounts

any assets, property, 401k, savings, anything that can be made liquid

paystubs and such

This is the usual list to what to send along with the I-134.

Since you are unemployed, I would suggest to start finding a co-sponsor to not make things difficult, because being unemployed might not be helpful at the interview

Technically unemployment compensation is allowed as income. At thew same time, the CO makes a decision based on the totality of the circumstances. Making near the minimum (as I would suspect is the case with UC, but I could be wrong I guess) nad/or not having a stable income source can raise concerns with the CO. I personally would have a co sponsor ready as well, along with looking for new employment in the meantime, obviously.

Fortunately, I was able to get a co-sponsor. However, I just want to make sure I have everything covered on my end although they probably may not even look at it. I just rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the help. I have a co-sponsor just in case. They would be filling out the I-864 correct?

They would also submit an I-134 .

When you get to AOS later (after marrying in the US), they would use an I-864 as a joint sponsor.
