Well ladies and gentlemen I had called the other day to open a ticket with Canada Post about my hubby's passport and documents. The responded to us by telling us we need to call the Consulate to open an investigation. So I called them today and the guy on the phone was very confused why they would email that to us. Put me on a veryyyyyyy long hold and then came back to tell me that we do indeed need to call the US Consulate because the package is MISSING!!!!!!!!!! He said it's not lost, but it is missing, and due to their agreement with the US Consulate it has to come from them as it is sensitive material. If you have extra wine send it my way

Visa Interview Date: November 6th, 2018

Date they actually mailed it: November 21st, 2018

Oh god that is so stressful and I am in similar situation because my tracking isn’t being updated! How did you know it’s missing? Could you show me your tracking history?

Geezuz I'm so sorry, I think it's safe to say it's all of our shared nightmares. I've heard of one other person with Canada post having lost their passport after the consulate sent it with no one knowing what was going on only to have the passport show up in her mailbox the Friday before her scheduled move. I hate that they even take our passports in the first place. Kind of stupid really since port of entry pulls up your record electronically. I hope it's found in quick order for you :(

Quick update: still no movement on my tracking. I did find out that there is a delay in Montreal right now and people are getting 4 day delay before seeing movement on their items. I am 2 days in and I will report back when there’s any movement at all.

Update on the "missing" package: So I contacted the US Consulate they said its not missing and that is all they told me. Canada Post keeps updating the delivery date and it now says 12/11. My husband called the post office he is supposed to pick up the passport from just to make sure it wasn't sitting there and they accidentally didn't scan it. It's not there but the lady informed my husband that its not lost or missing because she can see in the computer that they scan it everyday to update it. So who knows at this point. Richmond is a short drive from Vancouver, I wish we could just go pick it up from there but I don't think they will let that happen. I am going to call again today. I feel horrible for all the people who ordered their holiday gifts and won't get them in time, and people waiting on medications. I honestly don't understand how this strike was allowed to happen and continue for as long as it did. Especially at this time of the year. I want my husband to be able to come down to the states already. I feel like our whole lives are on hold for this.

Sounds like business as usual then aka gongshow. At least it's not missing now, whatever small consolation that is 😐. Thanks for the update, and I really hope you get it soon. Sitting in limbo really sucks, might have to cancel my Christmas plans with my family as well since it looks like passports are taking awhile to be delivered.

Update: around 1:45am last night I received a shipping update for my passport/documents. It was a arrival scan at Richmond, Vancouver. Today at 10:30am I received another update and email saying it’s ready to pick up(I chose the Burnaby post office location). The email also stated that I need to pick it up before December 18th otherwise they will be sending it back. I ran to the office immediately and now I am holding my package!! Everything looks good, they really sealed the do not open envelop good with layers of tape, I wouldn’t be able to open it without tearing the whole thing apart.

I am so happy to be done with the whole canadapost and visa situation, see you guys all on the other side.

Wow! Tres bien! Hear about very few pleasant surprises in any of this but glad it happened to you. Best of luck with AOS in the US, and enjoy your wedding :)

So my wife got an email this morning that her passport will be sent out along with a tracking number. She later received an email from Canada Post saying they have the package and that estimated delivery is tomorrow!

How true is this estimated delivery?? If it's true, I'm booking her ticket to California asap! I hope it's true and the backlogs don't ruin it. Anyone have any insight?

I wouldn’t buy the ticket just yet. Montreal is experiencing some delay as of now and mine was in limbo for 3 days at the Montreal processing depot.

Did you pay the extra for home delivery or Canada Post office pick up?

Just Canada Post pick up since it's not too far from her house. At the time of registering her appointment, I didn't know about the strike so I didn't really take any of that into consideration
