What a good day! Received combo card in the post, then out of nowhere got the interview letter for our green card today. 7th November. however we’re away for one week in a vegas so we’ve submitted for a different day! So much for a months notice 😂😂

Interesting. Our interview was scheduled on the 9th for November 13th. I'm thinking about rescheduling it because I have surgery 5 days before but I hope I'll be out of the hospital by then.

Would you mind keeping me updated about how your rescheduling goes?

A little off topic but kind of related.

My husband got his Utah driver's license after he received his EAD combo card. They both expire today. We filed for EAD renewal and received the automatic 180 day extension letter. We tried to get a driver's license renewal but the DMV sent us away saying come back when it's closer to the expiration date because they have to invalidate his existing one and check with USCIS which can take time. In the meantime he wouldn't have a license.

We went again last Friday and they said they'll give us a call. Today they finally called and said that they heard back from USCIS, everything is fine and we can come by and pick up the temporary drivers license.

I'm so relieved that he can drive again.

Hey!

From looking at your timeline you went through IR-1 / CR-1  and automatically got your 2 GC upon entry. Sorry if it was confusing, I meant for K1 people Adjusting Status! Nice to know about lifting conditions and naturalisation though! :)

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm a naturalized citizen, that's true. However I married a foreigner who came here on a tourist visa. We applied for his AOS in July 2017. He received his EAD in November 2017 and we received the interview notice on October 15th and it's scheduled for November 13th.

Hi everyone,

My USCIS field office is also SLC and I had my interview today. I applied in March 19 and on June 6 I got a notice saying that my interview was ready to be schedule. I also applied from a student visa (so it's a little different than everyone here). I got my EAD (didn't apply for parole/travel permit in March), on September. But since I wanted to travel next year and the process is taking so long, I also applied for the advance parole/travel permit on August 6. Last week of November i got a letter with my interview date (today 12/11). I only had a week and a half to prepare everything, but it was plenty of time. I went to the interview today and it took about 30 minutes. The officer was nice. Asked us to swear to tell the whole truth, took a picture and got my fingerprints. Explained how the interview was going to be and started going over the form i-485... he asked EVERYTHING that was in that form and made me sign at the end. After that he asked how we meet, how we got engaged and when he met my parents. Then we went through the documents I took (TONS OF DOCS) and kept just the ones I DIDN'T submit with my package (example: the new car we leased, our renewed apartment contract, most recent pictures, etc). Then he said I was going to receive a decision soon and he finalized explaining how to apply for the citizenship.

Tips: if the officer asks you to tell "how you met", tell him everything with the most details you remember. DON'T summarize the story.

DON'T reschedule your interview date. It's just gonna take much longer and it's never a good idea to reschedule anything with immigration.

For those wondering about rescheduling your AOS interview. Stop reading the horror stories. I had my original interview scheduled for 7th November but we had a pre planned vacation. So rescheduled and sent all the evidence. We received our new date today for April 11th.

Well guys we had our AoS Interview yesterday and it went absolutely fine. Appointment at 9:45am not seen till 11am out by 11:30am. The IO was a nice guy, just went through my full name, DOB, address. Asked if I was working now. Then went through the yes/no questions. At the end asked if we wanted to submit any extra proof of cohabitation. We gave new pictures, new insurance documents, new car documents and our 2018 W2s and tax return. Approved us on the spot, and told us about i-751 and to go to SS to update my residency now.
