I first heard about it on the Nebraska I-130 message board due to the lengthy time that service centre takes to process applications.

The I-129F was meant to be for families in situations like ours to allow the family to be together while waiting for the I-130 to be approved. It is supposed to add steps to your case and they don't really issue the K3 visas anymore but it is still a valid form and path to apply for. Based on the other posts, members discovered if you file for the I-129F then USCIS will pull your I-130 and approve it within 3 weeks-80 days of submission. Then they deny the I-129F application. I can confirm this worked in my case.

Due to the length of time that passed already we debated whether we should file the I-129F or not. We decided to go ahead as more of an insurance policy in case Nebraska pushed out timing yet again. I do believe filing the I-129F helped our case get approved faster but there is a possibility our number just came up.

There is a lot of information on the I-130 Nebraska message board on the subject and instructions on how to complete it on this forum which I followed. It is super easy to file for and doesn't cost anything but your time and the postage. I wish I wasn't hesitant and just applied for it sooner. I would be further along today if I had.

Good luck for the rest!

Hi Group! Just received my NOA2 confirmation letter in the email! Took 20 days to reach us here in Brazil! Our PD was October 11, 2018 which makes it 358 days since NOA1.

Odd thing is there has been no email from our attorney in Houston. For the past weeks I have been contemplating filing a i-129f. You can bet I will give her a call.

Now the wait for NVC and consulate interview date... Has anyone been approved by DHS, received NOA2 and had any problem before the interview?

Cheers everyone - great joy here and a big sigh of relief!

Hello allll! I just got an email that our case was approved! This is what you refer to as NoA 2 right? I have informed my lawyer and waiting for her to tell me what are our next steps. We are applying for my husband from Cairo, Egypt. Can anyone tell me what are the next steps and what are the usual estimates of time till we move forward?

Thank you! Will do.. do u have an idea how long it usually takes the NVC to assign a case number and for us to receive the receipt? Also how long till we are assigned an interview at the local embassy?

Good questions - I hope we get an answer soon. Also I am wondering how soon we must send NVC our DS-260 and I-864 forms... This years tax return will be much better than 2016 so I am thinking ofr delaying my forms till I pay taxes in January, 2020.

It looks like it’s taking around a month for NVC to send out the welcome email with your case number...

from there the process is up to us, I think we have a year to get the DS260 etc uploaded, and jan shouldn’t be a problem if your thinking to hold off..

recommendations im getting is to only upload what they ask for. Eg, if you only need 1 yr taxes, only upload 1 yr taxes... additional paperwork takes them longer to process and increases chances of you making errors with uploading paperwork... (system sounds like a b@#ch)...

be be very careful to save each page before moving forward and ensure everything is correct way, size etc.. resubmitting seems to take 6 week or more.. so try get it right first time is an absolute must! After DQ, it’s looking like a month from dq date for interview, but it will really depend on consulate and how busy they are... you can check via their website normally.
