In 1986, Senator Kennedy said, "[t]his amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this."

And 21 years later there are some gullible yo-yo's that still listen to this buffoon and buy into his bullshit. It boggles the mind...don't it?

He isn't the first politician who ended up eating his own words. Never say never.

But still. he should at least not be stupid enough to say "it will work this time around" when it's so obvious it didn't work last time. How does the saying go? "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me?"

Why don't you think it's a good idea?

Because it didn't work last time!

Granting legal status for those who are here is only one issue. There's a multitude of issues all being lumped under illegal immigration. No comprehensive reform is going to be able to solve all those issues. Short of revamping our trade agreements or better yet, establishing some kind of union between the US, Mexico and Canada, we'll continue to see an influx of immigrants crossing our southern border. It's an economic issue and one that is rooted in our historical relationship with Mexico. There's no way to get around that.

Really, do you think that this is going to work...the main point, even if we offer amnesty, what happens to the million or so that will cross the border illegally next year...lets just pay $10 for some strawberries and get it over with. I am not prejudice either, just it is time to face the facts, end the illegal immigrants employers through high, stiff and unwaivering fines and pay more. I am willing to do it.

No, it's about slipping the bastardization of family issues in under the rug while most of America was busy screaming and worrying about 'illegals'.

Here's your bill language.

 i feel absolutely sick about this. this bill is absolute garbage, and they just want to slide it in prior to their "off session".

Yes there is. Fine businesses that employ those not eligible for employment out of business. Seize the illegal profits from the profiteers just as we seize profits from other illegal business. Raise the stakes. Have people that employ those that are not eligible for employment do hard time. Send them up the river. No jobs for those not elgible to work. The flow will reverse sooner than you'd think. This is all about the profits for the few on the shoulders of the many. I, for one, am sick and tired of it.

Myopia is a dreadful disease.

Boy howdy. he sure did prove me wrong with that one!

Yeah really. I'm terrified of his 'withering' one-liners. They're SO original.

Speaking of one-liners...here is an original.

In 1986, Senator Kennedy said, "[t]his amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this."

Ted Kennedy is so full of sh!t his eyes are brown.

I'm sick of the fence jumper-enablers. Personally I think a lot of them are pro amnesty because they're afraid of looking like a racist. Gutless, gutless, gutless, GUTLESS. I've been called a racist a lot here because I'm against amnesty, but what they don't realize is I hung out with...and dated nothing but...Hispanics when I was a college student. Growing up, two of my best friends were from Honduras and Nicaragua. I don't have anything against Hispanic people and anyone who implies that I do loses the argument INSTANTLY in my opinion.

Amen. To me there are two kinds of mass amnesty supporters: people afraid of looking racist, and people who are terrified of paying more for goods and services so they're quite happy to exploit the sh!t out of people who have no other options.

I suppose they don't realize that if they were legalized, they'd start b!tching about their rights, join unions, protest, etc. So they'd pay more ANYWAY.
