Illegal aliens or those who come to the US and overstay are from everywhere in the world. The majority of people looked at as "illegals" are Mexicans. It is nobody's fault but their own. They should have never taken to the streets of the USA waving the Mexican flag, putting it in people's faces, and demanding they have citizenship rights in a country they have entered or live illegally. I don't see people from any other country throwing their motherland country's flag in people's faces. It probably would've been better to just stay quiet. They put themselves out in front. Now, it's time they have to face the reality of resistence from US citizens who do not want them here. It's going to get worse before it ever gets better.

...because Mexico isn't just 'any other country'. You cannot ignore the historical and unique relationship the US has with Mexico. I really don't understand why this is such an emotional issue.

In Texas there's quite a close relationship. 6% of Texas's population is comprised of illegal immigrants, probably about 70% of whom are Mexicans.

We won Texas from Mexico fair and square, so Mexico's flag is one of the six that has flown over Texas. You see the six flag configuration and motif all over the place, so you get used to seeing an eagle eating a snake whilst sitting on a cactus.

not all illegals commit criminal acts

Bwaaa haaa haaa haaaa !!! Did you think before you typed that?

oh.. if u mean the 'every day that they're here is a crime'.. then yeah, they're criminals.. but:

"In fact, under current law illegal presence is not a criminal offense; it is a civil offense punishable by civil sanctions and deportation."...

now if you meant that all illegals only commit criminal acts instead of working.. then, i guess u're the one who didn't thought before typing.. not all illegals are thiefs, drugdealers, or murderers..

not all, true. but how much of a percentage?

dunno.. u have the%?

:P

heck i know not all of them are angels.. but it's one thing to say that, to say ALL of THEM are T3H 3VILZ

i've cited some before in vj - they exceed the us population stats that's for sure. as i just got the work computer rebuilt today and i'm yet to put back my saved favorites, such will have to wait till next week.

Try checking out www.senate.gov before you talk about something you know nothing about.

no need to be a smartass.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s110-1348

shows the text of S.2611 and S.2612 from 109th congress. if you noticed, the bill was introduced on May 9th, a full week before the "Grand Bargain" was introduced.

"Last Action: May 14, 2007: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure WITHDRAWN in Senate."

it was withdrawn from the calendar so that the new bill can be introduced and debated

or if you prefer to see it on the senate pages:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d1...mp;summ2=m&

ok?

Try reading the home page of www.senate.gov and check out the Floor Schedule for Monday 5/21.

http://www.senate.gov/

Ok?

the senate website just isn't updated. the S.1348 bill was a duplicate of last years S2611:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0507/3920.html

"Within hours of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announcing that debate would begin Monday on an immigration bill that passed the Senate LAST YEAR, four key Republicans urged Reid in a letter to delay the debate until a bipartisan negotiating group, which has been trying for weeks to write an alternative bill, can strike a deal."

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/fn/4804884.html

"Senators were racing to get an immigration agreement by Wednesday, when Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., otherwise will bring up a measure passed LAST YEAR with strong Democratic support _ but one opposed by most Republicans"

and if thats not enough, just do a simple text compare between the text of S.1348 and S.2611

Would you mind explaining what you mean by that remark?

Are you meaning to tell me that stating a fact now makes one a racist?

I sincerely hope you're kidding.

I wasn't referring to the movie by that name but naming your rendition of American history as 'x' - meaning any version you want. Meaning - in a few short sentences, you've attempted to show that it's an open and shut case with regard to our historical relationship with Mexico.

LOL...yeah, that made sense. Your two-sentence rebuttal to something you didn't like was a crushing blow to your opponent, but you're interpreting the facts I posted as an attempt to summarize Mexican history when you yourself did the same with Mexico's relationship to the US.

Pot, kettle, black, etc.

I'm not drawing any specific conclusions other than saying - our attitudes and our understanding of immigrants coming from Mexico shouldn't be based merely on emotions. Mexico isn't just any other country with regard to the US - that is an oversimplification. The issues we have with Mexican immigrants needs to be looked at in the context of our historical relationship with Mexico. I've read enough posts on this site to see that many people don't believe there's any distinction between Mexican illegal immigrants and other illegal immigrants. My argument is that it isn't that simple...nor will the solutions be.

Oh, but the solution IS simple. No jobs/benefits for illegals = no illegals.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Boy howdy. he sure did prove me wrong with that one!

Yeah really. I'm terrified of his 'withering' one-liners. They're SO original.

Speaking of one-liners...here is an original.

In 1986, Senator Kennedy said, "[t]his amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this."

And 21 years later there are some gullible yo-yo's that still listen to this buffoon and buy into his bullshit. It boggles the mind...don't it?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
