Quick question. Got my interview on Monday.

I have an I-134 form filled out from my fiance and all the supporting evidence. Should I also take evidence of my own finances? Do i need to, will they look at these?

If so, what should I take - would some bank statements and a letter of employment be enough?

Keith

Sorry, but it's difficult to answer your question without any background information.

Are you applying for a K-1 visa?

Are you the petitioner or the beneficiary?

If you are the beneficiary then there is no need to bring evidence of your own finances.

A few things that are un-clear, what visa are you filing for? Your profile lacks data so I can only assume K-1, please fill in the details, "YOU ARE NOT FILING FOR N/A" You dont have a timeline so again cannot use that to get an idea about your situation.

The US citizen provides the I-134 and evidence.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

  • I-134 signed and notarized.
  • Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS
  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years
  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.
  • Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.

Our I-134 was bound neatly in 1 folder, I-134 on top, then supporting documents behind it.

The bank letters are optional, they are needed if income is below 125% poverty line and you are relying on the bank account as an asset.

In fact the I-134 is optional if you can prove that your wife wont become a charge of the state, the I-134 is a statement that documents how your wife will be supported, until status is adjusted.

OOPS - Sorry, I forgot that i had not filled in the timeline data.

Here's my info:

- K1 VISA

- I am beneficiary

My fiance has sent me completed I-134 forms and all supporting evidence. That part is no problem

I just want to know if I should also include some sort of statement of my own finances. I currently have a full-time job with a regular wage coming in - will my showing that I have money to start off with be worth taking, or will they not be interested in that?

I could get together my previous bank accounts, letter from my current employer and some payslips to show my current job?

You don't need to provide any financial information, only the petitioner.

The link to DS2000 on London site is excelent resource for what they want for support evidence.

well, simply reading dai's original post , one could learn that he is the beneficiary and they have filed for a k-1......but you still should still fill in a timeline dai :)

London allows the beneficiary to use their own assets and income that will continue once you are in the US.

If your fiance's income and/or assets are sufficient, there's really no need to offer yours.

Good Luck on Monday

That link is helpful - I'll gather up the info and have it just in case i need it.

Another question - I have a 1040 form (tax return) here as part of my evidence. Do I need to have a W2 form - just found out about this. Is a W2 essential? Do all Americans have a W2 form?

The W2 proves the income number on the 1040, without the W2 the 1040 tends to be meaningless (anyone could just download a 1040 fill it out with what ever they feel like and attach it to the I-134). W2 is issued every year by the US citizen's employer.

If no W2, a tax transcript from the IRS can be accepted in place of the 1040 and W2.

I cant recall......can transcripts be faxed?

dai seems to be on a time crunch here and Im wondering if he'll be able to obtain the transcripts in time....which would stink

I'm going to phone my fiance now and see if she can get the W2 form posted through today - is a copy of this acceptable?

If it's posted today by UPS, it'll be here in 2 days time, which will be okay.

I would imagine if a copy of the tax return is adequate then a copy of the attachments, including the W-2 would be too :)

And yes...you can have the tax transcripts faxed to you. I just did this last week...called late at night even...they sent them to me within the hour. I can tell you that they provided EXCELLENT customer support...it's an entirely different experience from dealing with immigration. I wish all government agencies worked this well.
