The first thing she needs to do is divorce her husband. Until that is finalized you two will not be able to apply for any visa for being together on a permanent basis. Getting to know each other for a couple of years is a great idea. What country is she from?

Agreed! Kenya. I spent several months with her over there. Got to meet her family and everything.

One other thing is that she has close family that lives within an hour of me. So she is planning on visiting them as well not just me.

She is working with an attorney as we speak. However his advice was before she officially files he wanted her to apply for the visa.

Not sure how that is relevant but can not see it impacting either way and sometimes it is just best to let it go.

Good luck on your VisaJourney.

Just be sure she applies for the tourist visa and disclose all info needed. Purpose of the trip, who’s she visiting, etc.

any lies or omission can hinder future immigration plans

Yes!! However, I don’t know what they ask. Is there a way to find out?

No. You can search to see some questions commonly asked, but it 1) depends on the individual's circumstances and 2) are not anything she won't know and is expected to know.

Normally the 'interview' is a couple of minutes and a couple of questions, the information needed is on the Application Form.

Blink and you'll miss it. Immigrant interviews can be longer, mine was maybe 5 minutes max, B was seconds.

Is there a way to see the application form ahead of time? I want her to list me as well as all of her USC relatives who live near me. Plus I thought she could list other people she is friends with that live elsewhere in America. Or is too many friends and family a bad thing? This will be her first trip anywhere.

Just start a DS-160 and don't submit it. https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

They aren't too concerned about why somebody will come to the US...they want to know why they will leave. Having lots of relatives in the US is a tie to the US, not a tie to go home. But they need to be listed anyway.

Thank you for the insight. Is there any trouble applying for the tourist visa right after you get your passport? I’ve read it’s better to wait 6 months.

Makes no difference.

A travel history can help, but not just how long you have a passport.

The application is pretty obvious and straightforward.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Is there any reason why she hasn’t divorced yet? If it’s quite clear that the marriage is well and truly over then why not divorce? Do they still share any property or other assets together? The reason I ask is this...if she still has a financial or property link to her husband, visits you, then divorces and applies for a K-1 (or marries you and applies for a CR-1) it’s going to look suspicious that she divorced and then immediately jumped into a relationship that could provide an immigration benefit.
