K1 Fiance Visa interview process and How long for visa to come to United States

Hi I was just wondering when my fiancé gets the okay for the k1 fiancé visa interview in his country of Indonesia am I allowed to go with him to this? Has anyone else joined their fiancé for this or is it even allowed? Also how long after the interview will you get the visa to be able to come to United States? Just trying to figure out the time line. Thank you in advance!!!

I'll defer to others from Indonesia if the petitioner is allowed to join the beneficiary at the interview. Some allow this and others don't. Some let you in the building (into the visa application area), some don't.

If not, you can hand your passport to the beneficiary for them to show as evidence that you are in the country with them.

 

How long it takes to get the visa depends on the circumstances. Some people are issued a 221(g) for more documents or verification of documents or other reasons. Some people are "approved" at the interview but then put into extended Administrative Processing (AP) due to background checks.

Every case will go through some sort of AP. Usually it's days, sometimes weeks, rarely months, and very rarely years. AP is not a sign of something wrong...printing of the visa alone is part of AP.

Most consulates generally take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for AP to complete, have the visa issued, and then delivered to the beneficiary.
