according to the montreal answering message, the wait from when they receive it from NVC to the interview is 5-7 months. before it said 2-4 months, but it was much longer for most. i'm sorry, but we all did the waiting, there's nothing much else to do :/ we had our 130 approved april last year and our interview was this past april. and that was before their 5-7 months message. it totally sucks.

quick edit: approved in april, but it didnt get sent to montreal until november

I received my first interview letter and instructions on Nov 24, 2006 for my interview that was scheduled for Dec 22, 2006. So, they don't give lots of notice less than a month and you will still need to fit a medical in there between the interview letter and interview.

Hope you get a speedier interview that me waiting for my reschedule (6 months and still nothing)

P.S. My interview letter came to my husband (the USC) - I guess that depends who you made your choice of agent?

did you have to schedule your medical for sometime in those 3 weeks? I've said it before-the Canadian process is so much better than the US process. this is stupid that we have to go to an interview but they only give a few weeks notice and have to get the medical after the interview date is know-ridiculous. And yes I know that some people have it worse but that's no reason that I can't be pissed too.

Yeah, we were looking at the Canadian process and it's nice that you can submit EVERYTHING at the same time, unlike the US process for CR-1/IR-1... file this, wait, file this, wait, here's your barcode, wait, etc...

well, we decided that the hubby should take the contract. So he's going to be unreachable for most of June-here's hoping for a not too speedy interview date. looking at the few other IR1 timelines, we're already slower than pretty much everyone else on the list.

Neiks-what were you told when you initially postponed your interview? Did they give you any indication how long it maybe to get a new date? I assume you've involved your rep/senator, have they been helpful in figuring out why it's been so long without a new interview?

You will probably see my new post and that I have finally got my interview date. When I asked to be rescheduled I was told nothing other than it had been noted and I would receive a letter in the mail when a new date was set. No indication of how long of a wait. I started e-mailing the Montreal embassy monthy starting in January and they just kept telling me hopefully it would be set for the following month and it shouldn't be much longer.

We contact the senator May 3 and today is the 18th so they acted quickly on it. I don't know if they sped it up any or if it was just my time in line. I would think that the 6 month wait is on the long side of the timeline. I wasn't too concerned with getting a quick interview myself as we are in the US with my hubby on visitor status with no problems, I have plenty of ties to Canada including a residence and a job with Canada Customs that I will be returning to after my Mat leave. I thought there would be no issues and get a new interview way before 6 months.... Wrong.

Hope things work out well for you. I would probably say you are safe that your husband won't get an interview for June - but there is always Murphy's law that screws things up.

I'm pretty sure that Murphy will get us reguardless-take the contract and possible miss the interview or don't take the contract and be that much poorer. Your hubby is from a small state right-I seem to remember some reference to ND. I'm frow WY, lucky for us our senators don't get that many requests for help. mine was all over our lost app when we started this nonsense.

Can I as a customs question? If you're tired of answering this, I understand. As a Canadian PR can I ride in a US car across the boarder? A friend and I are considering a road trip that may include BC, but we'll be in her US car. I'm trying to remember if my husband ever crossed the border in my car before it was imported-I think he did but can't remember

thanks

Sure you can ride in a US car if there is a US resident driving. You just could not drive the US car by yourself into Canada.

I have no problem answer Canada Customs related questions. I have problems with people not listening to what I have to say. I take the time out of my day away from my son to try to help people and they want to listen to what some rental guy in Texas say it's OK. Sorry, I will stop ranting now. :D

Bush is From texas, so the car rental guy in Texas must be right!! :-)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
