Does anyone know how long the social security number take?

 

Do you get your SSN in the office immediately? or have to wait for the SSN card?

Under normal circumstances you need to wait till you receive the card.

If everything goes normal 2-3 weeks or less. If there is a mismatch between the i-94 info or the entry or visa info is not on their system, it can take longer.

1.	The SS-5 form you downloaded and filled out (they have some at the office if you forget).
2.	your Passport (with the K-1 Visa in it)
3.	your valid I-94: Electronic I-94 Copy; or (for older entries) an original (and bring a front/backside copy) of a valid paper I-94
4.	another form of valid ID (as defined in the SS-5 instructions)
5.	You should also bring the document RM 10211.530 that you printed out

 

 

Hello everyone, i dont understand the number 5 above. Its from ssn site. Should i print it all out? What for is this?

And can i give passport instead of ID?

Do not worry about number 5. They recommend it out of abundance of caution. You are in Sacramento,  they will know about K-1. On SS-5 make sure to answer question 5 (Citizenship question) as "Alien permitted to work") You only need passport and printed I-94. Nothing else. On the off chance they will tell you "K-1 visas are not eligible for  SSN!" ask to speak with supervisor.
