good evening everyone i hope you all are having a lovely evening. i have a question as it relates to filing taxes. im doing and AOS i overstayed on a B2 visa i went to my biometrics appointment on August 10 and im now awaiting my work permit nothing has happened since then the website only says im ready to be schedeuled for and interview.

my question for today is (even though its a too early to be concerned about filing taxes) can i file my taxes jointly but as an injured spouse? (injured spouses meaning any past-due money that he owes the government such as Federal tax, state income tax, child support or spousal support). is this the appropriate or wise thing to do i know someone who did it but this was 8 years ago when her husband filed for her she too came here on a B2 and overstayed and now she is a citizen. Thank you in advance
