If they had found anything wrong with any of your exams they wouldn’t have given you the envelope. They would have told you what you had failed and given a chance to fix it, either with treatment of paperwork. If they gave you an envelope everything is fine.

The list of communicable diseases that bar people from entering the United States, which is  kept by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), continues to grow. The list includes a number of quarantinable diseases (such as cholera, plague, smallpox, and yellow fever), as well as leprosy, tuberculosis, and pandemic flu. Recently HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (such as chancroid and gonorrhea) were removed from this list

as i have stated earlier as long as your GC can be cured by standard antibiotics you can go for a second medical checkup as long as your STD is not the mutated type of course you got to write in and get an approval for it and be harder to get your visa but it is still possible.

Just letting you know I work for a branch of CDC and see this on a daily basis

So how many and what diseases will doctor test applicant ? I'm consider going to none recommended hospital or clinic from embassy to test first before the official comes.

My spouse got her medical report by 4:30 pm at the hospital. Along with others who came to do their medical exam test the previous day.

I know we are not supposed to open the envelope.

But how do we know if we passed it?

(I mean in the case say we got positive for the gonorrhea naat test)

Does the consulate only get the results when we hand them over this envelope?

You can request a copy of your test records from the hospital. That's the only way to know for sure what they put in it. It depends on local cultural norms whether the doctor would inform you of any notable conditions or not. When I "passed" the exam in the US (form I-693) the doctor's office gave me a copy of the form but they also said that it's against their ethical policy to test for, or discuss, any other medical issues, not related to that particular exam. That would take a separate appointment.

Yes, the consulate only gets the results when you submit the envelope.

I asked for a copy of the medical report during the exam, the doctor sent it to my home address the same day he sent the original medical report to the embassy.

It has all the info including the x-ray results, apparently they even did a chlamydia test, had no idea about that until I received the medical results (I thought they only did gonorrhea and syphilis). They were quite thorough. 👍

As others have said, a doctor has a duty of care and can't let you walk out of the office with a communicable disease without offering some sort of treatment.

So we can ask for a copy of the medical exam and deliver the sealed copy to the embassy? Makes sense since the embassy should only want to know the true results and not to keep them a secret from the visa applicant. My wife is just too curious.

They generally run a GC test (chlamydia and gonorrhea) side by side there is a machine probably similar to what we use at my place one urine sample can test for both in a matter of minutes.

you will need all your medical records showing you have completed your vaccinations. The exam will be a skin check of your genitals as well as your physical appearance making sure you are not a drug addict or other self physical harm. you will also need a TB test if you test positive for skin test you will be forced to take a x-ray if you are positive here you maybe rejected you will have STD tests urine and blood required. They will do a general check of your internal organs check for swelling. If you had been tested positive for STDs in the past make sure you got records for your treatment. Most people probably don't have to worry unless you know you have some obvious symptom that you know yourself that something is wrong.

the doc determines that for u based on ur age and medical history. Most ppl I know in their 20s and 30s get like 3-4 vaccinations (determination made by doc). Do not necessarily need a vaccination record.

Anyway I called NVC up... and they said if something is wrong w the medical exam..."they would let you know ".

As much as possible try to get your records cause these vaccinations cant be easily just taken it can take up to half a year such as HepB

  • Mumps
  • Measles
  • Rubella
  • Polio
  • Tetanus and diphtheria
  • Pertussis
  • Haemophilus influenzae (Flu shot)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Rotavirus
  • Meningococcal disease
  • Varicella (chicken pox...not needed if you got it before)
  • Pneumococcal disease

Certain ones they will let you clear without getting the full cycle such as diptheria you can just show you got the first shot with booster shot.

That makes sense...

The hospital that did the test for my spouse says the following on their official website:

"If the reports are abnormal additional tests will be required which will delay the duration of stay. Abnormal reports will be sent to the Mumbai consulate once cleared by the panel physician."

MMR - the first three are only given for children. I was told that I was too old to contract it so they did not need to do MMR. Tetanus is good for 10 years. So if you had taken a Tetanus shot within the past few ears, you are still good. One of the Hepatitis vac is done over a three year period (not sure which one sorry)  so that always poses a problem if you had not already started it.
