Hello everyone,

Hopefully this is a simple "yes or "no" question.

Here is the scenario:

 - I live in the US (Charlotte, NC) and I am a naturalized US Citizen (I am originally from Argentina, became US Citizen in 2012).

 - My girlfriend lives in Brazil, and I will be starting the K-1 process soon. We'll get married once she gets here, per the 90 day rule.

 - I am considering traveling to Brazil to visit her in January (while she is still with her K-1 visa in process).

Question:

 - Would that be OK for me to travel to visit her? is there anything i should be aware of?

I believe it should be OK, but before making plans, I wanted to hear if you guys ran into issues while travelling abroad, and going through the process.

Thanks!

It would only be a problem if you're gone for months and receive an RFE while you are gone. But even that can be taken care of, if you have someone keeping an eye on your mail for you.

It won't effect anything. I just visited my fiance in May and did not have any issues. I had him keep my boarding pass and other evidence for him to bring to his interview to prove we are still seeing each other.

There aren't any issues with visiting your fiancé(e) in their country or a third country with a pending K-1. If they have or don't need a visa (which is to say they're from Canada or a Visa Waiver Program country), there are no issues with your fiancé(e) visiting the US with a pending K-1. It's not relevant to what you want to do, but in the interests of completeness... it's unlikely a tourist visa to the US will be granted to someone with a pending K-1.

You visiting will only help your case in my opinion more face to face time. Just don't have pictures of any fancy celebrations. CO''s sometimes think you're already married.
