We are gathering all the medical information for Knightsbridge. Is anyone or has anyone had issues with getting records from GP? My fiance had an appointment that he made today. When he booked the appointment he told them what it was for and what he needed. Went in today and they gave him nothing. They will not help with anything. They told him to print off his summary and take it and IF he needed anything additional to let them know. He explained that is not how it works. He needs this information for a medical evaluation. They were complete jerks and offered no help. Any advice?

As far as I understand Knightsbridge will only need his medical summary report which the doctors should print off and give to him free of charge. He would only need anything further if he has suffered from any specific complications and then a written report from his doctors would also be required. I am no expert on this it is just what I have read on here.

It was like pulling teeth at his GP. He set up an appointment letting them know exactly what he needed. He gets there and they have nothing for him and the Dr was not even in. He does have psoriasis and needs the letter from his GP for it and no one would help him. After spending 2 hours there, he was only signed up to get his records online. Just frustrating when you are trying to have all your stuff in order and these people can't do a simple task that they were aware of 5 day prior to his appointment.

I'm sorry to hear your GP surgery is being so difficult. It is a common story.

The patient summary should be fine, but depending on his medical history, he may need letters explaining diagnoses/medications etc. This is pertinent to people with history of depression/anxiety/any other mental health disorders or issues, and any other sizeable medical problem/history. I have a history of depression and anxiety and got a letter from my GP, and my patient summary included any active and/or past significant problems and a list of vaccinations I've been administered over the years.

If you need a letter/report from them for anything, I think it might be advisable to explain to them that if they don't help you now, then Knightsbridge will simply ask them anyway, so the letter will have to be written whatever the outcome. Perhaps this could get moved to the UK-specific forum where others like me can advise.

Two more points...

1. You mention psoriasis (had to Google the spelling!): I too have a history of that, but I wasn't aware it needed any kind of GP letter. My understanding was a letter was required for things like mental health, substance abuse disorders and/or any other serious medical conditions and/or hospitalisations. I have it on my patient summary, and the cream I received is on my list of prescribed medications.

2. I see your fiancee is moving to Indiana. I'll be doing the same next month, hopefully!

Indianapolis. My fiancee has not long moved there to start a new job, before that was Bloomington. I spent six months there from late 2017 into 2018 and it was bliss. I feel so at home in Indiana.

Indiana is a great place! I am about 2 hours north in Fort Wayne but go to Indy all the time for Colts games. Good luck to you! I hope you get here safely and with no hiccups!

Same to Daniel!

In terms of psoriasis, is that a definite thing to get a letter for? I never felt it was 'important' enough to warrant a letter. My medical is Saturday and now I'm a little worried I don't have any time to sort out yet another letter for something. As I mentioned above, I've been aware that only 'serious' conditions need back up evidence/data.

Don't let it panic you. Just like you had said, they will request it if needed and you can still do your interview. Good Luck and let me know how it goes!

I am having a NIGHTMARE of a time getting what I need from my doctors. I’ve written three letters so far, they’ve screwed up my patient summary and trying to get a report about my old mental health diagnoses is worse than pulling teeth!

I’m heading to Knightsbridge with as much information as I can from my personal record and hopefully it’ll be enough and if it’s not I am going to request that they call my doctors and maybe it’ll put their butts into gear better!!

Knightsbridge only want details of long term serious conditions. The questionnaire does ask mental health questions I believe to ascertain if you are a danger to yoursekf or others. I have IBD and was prepared and asked my consultant for a summary anyway for AFTER i moved to find a provider to monitor me, turns out Knightsbridge would have sent me away to get this had I not already had it.

The most issues I had with my GP was around my childhood vaccine records but the summary they cant refuse to give you.
