Affidavit of Support question

Hey everyone,

I was just looking at the affidavit of support poverty guidelines. My household consists of three people (my parents and I). The poverty guideline shows that if a sponsors household size is 3 people, the sponsor should make $25,975.

I just finished my bachelor's degree and worked part-time during college for a couple months, so I didn't even file for taxes until last year ( I actually made enough to file) because that part-time job didn't really bring any money in for me. Anyways, right now I am waiting for an offer from a company I interviewed at ( this is for a serious full-time job). So, my question is: f I start my new job and say the job will bring in $60k a year, would it be fine for me to submit the affidavit of support by myself without a co-sponsor ?

P.S    I still have about 5.5 months of waiting for NO2, so this gives me some time to start the job and earn some money so my fiance can show that I can support him by myself.

Yes, you can do this solely on your merits. They are most interested in the current salary. So anything that proves the current income i.e. tax returns, pay stubs, W-2's or best of all Employment Letter will work. To determine the household size, it's the number of persons who YOU support not the number that resides in the house. If you live with your parents, in most cases you are not supporting them. If you support your parents, then 4 is your answer but you don't support, it's 2.

Here is what they are looking for as proof.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134.

you would include their income

my step daughter works on a cruise ship' (only here 1 or 2 months a years)  but uses my home for a base / driver's licence and all is addressed here

Immigration officer told me i had to include her in income size but provide copies of her tax transcpripts to show she was not dependent on me

Your post to this thread got me thinking to the way that this is calculated. I was comparing your way of computing to my way and in the end, I continued to be somewhat confused as to "how does the government" determine the family size or is my answer correct or is kris&me's computation is correct. It's a little of both. So doing a little research I was able to ascertain this is how it is computed.

I appreciated your answer.
