Ontario Birth Certificate

Is there a specific type of Birth Certificate we need to send?  I have a small wallet size one from the province that is a few years old.  Will that be good enough or is there a specific type they require?

Did you figure out which type of long form birth certificate you will need? Is it the Certified Copy of Birth Registration or Birth Certificate with Parental Information. A bit confused on which one would be used at the K-1 interview.

In ontario it is the long form one. Took about 2 weeks to get it. Ordered it online.

With parental information.  One if the primary differences between the long and short form is typically parental information

Not sure. It is certified with a stamp I think. It was the only

long form option

This one. Mine took longer than I would have liked (nearly two months!) but I got stuck in the land of postal strikes.

No. The certified one. It is a certified copy of your original birth certificate

It would be helpful if the language was consistent with the Ontario ordering site (birth certificate; birth certificate with parental information; certified copy of birth registration) and the US reciprocity information, but based on this, the answer should be either/both. 

 

One is $25; the other is $35. 

 

Just be careful with processing times; for whatever reason they seem to be backlogged and have a note up to contact them for urgent requests, otherwise delivery can take 11-12 weeks.

Just went through all this with them. You need a certified copy of birth registration which has your parents name registered on it. The one with parental info is a small sized one, for convenience of parents, travelling etc.. The only way unless you want to wait "15 weeks or longer" is to do the expedited service, which costs more. The Ontario birth cert ordering situation is actually awful right now.
