Well since this subsite is my main joint, i thought i should stop by and say thanks to all who helped me during those crazy days when i sought answers to all things K1.....Learnt a lot but also had to wade through a number of postings to learn even more. Green cards were finally received on 5/8/07. I guess it could have been much earlier but unfortunately i do have this recalcitrant streak in me that makes me want to engage USCIS when they make silly mistakes and boy have they made some........

My wife got her EAD with the wrong DOB.............had to send that back and write a very strongly-worded letter (all $180.00 strong!)...maybe the tone of the letter helped delay return of the correct EAD but i simply needed to vent...

And then there was the issue of RFE on medical tests...this confusion USCIS employees seem to have regarding K1 visa holders who come into the country having completed (and paid for, i might add) medical exam by panel physicians in their countries. My case which got (?luckily) transferred to CSC should have been tidied up as far back as March if the folks reviewing the case had been thorough....but then again how thorough can they be if by some unfathomable reason, they are unable to locate the medical reports?

Anyway, the streak that refuses to simply "roll over and die" would not permit me to simply comply with their RFE requesting for a new I-693. I complied (or so i thought) by sending a complete I-693A...........following my first RFE, i sent another I-693A with a detailed letter explaining the whole KI-visa process including the equation.... Panel Physician=Civil surgeon..........all to no avail. I was soon hit with another RFE in which a veiled threat of my case being revoked or words to that effect if all documents requested for were not made available by date X/X/X.....So like the "ekuke" afraid of getting whipped, i placed my tail between my legs and hussled to cough out more $$$ for I-693.....ofcourse muttering $%#&*(_&^%$#@ under my breath as i gave the civil surgeon the new check for medical tests i was absolutely convinced were going to return negative and why not……it had been barely a year when similar tests were done in Nigeria….

Three weeks after they received the new medical reports we received the green cards. I can only imagine someone out there in CSC rubbing hands together and saying….Well about time you complied………..

Yes I did! I caved in!! Got tired of making calls to the so-called national hotline and trying to intellectualize the process. Got tired of schooling quite a number of “customer service reps” each time I called. So yes I spent more money for my own sanity. I guess we must all decide where to draw the line………I drew mine when the blood vessels above my ears started throbbing………

Here`s wishing you all the best along the journey.

Thank you for sharing your story, it is very uplifting. Right now, my hubby is patiently waiting for his EAD/AOS....everyday he mentions it over and over and over....he wants a job and a opportunity to have an income.

I know that it can be difficult and can be a battle to overcome the anger/depression/foolishness over the whole scenario...but "patience is a virtue" is what it boils down to......I am happy to hear that after all the mess you went thru...that you can now put it all behind you and not look back.....for a good while at least :) Thanks again for sharing your story and showing that when to going gets tough...the tough keeps going...I hope that all your (you and wife) dreams come true :)

To anyone else that goes thru any difficulties, those are the times you need to be supportive, loving, understanding to your SO......I am a mother of 2....so I have those maternal instincts that automatically kick in when my hubby is having a rough day and wants to have matters resolved ASAP.

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!
