Only 20 mins?! Wow, that's great news. I'm keep hearing that these ceremonies last like 2 hrs... Mine is this Thursday in MKE. We don't have children and I honestly dn't understand why anyone would bring an infant or toddler with...

I just went to the post office. It turns out that you need an APPOINTMENT and you need to make it online. I will make on for Friday. I don't know if it's a new nationwide thing or a Wisconsin thing but we asked at several post offices (in the city of Milwaukee, as well as New Berlin and Shorewood) and they all said the same... Just FYI, in case you didn't know.

Still waiting for my oath ceremony to be scheduled and my 18th month extension is already expiring on June 21st. I called USCIS last Friday to schedule infopass but I keep missing their calls because of work. Now, I only have 2 more days before it expires.

Question, do you guys know if I really need to get my passport stamped? Or would it be okay if I don't? My Driver's license doesn't expire until 2020 and no plans to travel any time soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I had my ceremony yesterday I Milwaukee, WI at the courthouse... It's a beautiful building! We had to be there by 8 am (ceremony was at 9 am), but the courthouse didn't open until 8:10-8:15, and we had to wait outside. The line was long and slow. They were really confused at first that I don't have a 10-yr-green card only an expired conditional one + 2 extension letter. Thank god I had a letter about my ROC/10-yr-GC approval with me. They made me fill out a form why I didn't have a 10-yr-GC.

It was a very short ceremony, maybe 30 mins. About 60 people from 30+ countries. The judge was nice, mostly to the point. He had a few stories about the US and immigration, cracked a few jokes. There was no welcome video from the president or anything extra. I was surprised that they didn't call use by name to receive our certificates. We went up by row to get them. Handing out the certificates was super rushed and impersonal (not even a handshake or congrats, but a super quick 'get out now'). I expected something more ceremonial and personal as I've heard from others or saw online.... At least it was quick.

There is not much room for guests, so if you have a Milwaukee ceremony, do not take your entire family, your spouse is plenty (some people brought 4-5 guests at least). It was not a problem for us, though. Thankfully, there were no crying babies as someone experienced it a few days before me.

Unfortunately, because I changed my name, I won't be receiving the name change court order for another 2-3 weeks in the mail. Most places give you the name change papers right away at the ceremony, but turns out Milwaukee doesn't do that, even though it was a judicial ceremony at the courthouse, not an administrative one elsewhere... I am pretty pissed about this, since I didn't expect it, and most places hand you everything together. It doesn't even make sense, since my naturalization certificate says my new name, but I have no proof of the name change.... So I have to wait 2-3 weeks for that, and I can only apply for a passport after. I also have to wait w/ voters registration until then..... It seems endless. Nonetheless, I am happy that I am a citizen, and eventually I get that passport too...

My timeline:

Summer 2015: I came in with an ESTA in early summer 2015. We were in a relationship for nearly 8 years by then (the first almost 2 'in-distance' while living in the US on an F1, and then 6 mostly long-distance + he was also living w/ me in Europe for a while + we traveled the world for a year together too)
August 2015: we got married early August and applied for AOS late August 2015, had my biometrics soon after in Albany, NY
October 2015: got my EAD within 6ish weeks
January 2016: had my interview sometimes in January and got my green card in late January 2016
November 2017: I applied for ROC n late Nov. 2017 and had my biotmetrics soon after in Milwaukee, WI (California Service Center)
November 2018: I applied for N-400 mid-Nov. 2018, had my biometrics a few weeks later
April 2019: got my interview notice 5 months after my application
May 2019: had my interview 6 months after my application in Milwaukee, WI, got my N-400 and ROC approved. I never received a 10-yr green card though.
June 2019: I had my oath ceremony on 6/20/19 in Milwaukee, WI, a bit 7 months after my N-400 application (3 years and 6 monthish after my green card was approved and about 3 years 10 months after applying for a green card...)

I hope this is helpful to someone who is currently applying or applying in the future.

Good luck everyone still waiting on their N-400 interview or oath or applying for AOS/ROC/N-400 now or in the future!

So, in the latest... I had my n400 interview on the 12th here in LA, which went fine but couldn't be approved since my I-751 is still pending. My extension letter expires on July 8th, so I had an info pass appointment yesterday to get the I-551 stamp. It was very quick and easy. I asked the officer if she had any idea how long it would be until the I-751 was approved. She said that it had been received by the LA office, and it would probably be three months. This will put it outside of "normal" processing times by two months and mean my citizenship is delayed by nearly four months. I asked her why some people get combo interviews but others don't. She said that some officers are trained to do both, some are not. I don' know whether that's bull, but that's what she said. Personally, I think this is ridiculous. I will submit an enquiry as soon as poss when the I-751 is outside of normal processing times. I may also get in touch with my Congressman and Senators.
