4 months? Ouch.

Has there been any change on either of your cases statues today?

Given your experience, and that of some others too, I've adjusted my outlook so that if I end up falling in the 'i-751 not approved before N400 interview' I'll be expecting it. But I'm still hoping for the best! LOL. I have packed the formal confirmation of my combi interview (received from my local office after my inquiry, so not a standard letter) in case I need to query the i-751 if my interview goes the way of yours.

This must be so frustrating. We are very good at waiting though...

No changes today. I am a lot less stressed today tho which is good :D

I honestly just think it has to do with the person interviewing you. I was just unlucky and got someone rude and had no interest in getting my application out the door.

If you get someone nice i feel like they will recommend your N-400 for approval and so then when the supervisor gets it. They will see "oh this one was recommended for approval" and quickly approve your I-751 and get the process over and done with sooner.

Where now with me since my N-400 was marked with "cannot approve this case now" now the supervisor has so much more work to do and thus making the entire process longer.

I hope you get someone nice!

California is processing I-751's at most 19.5 months (which is 90 days or so away) so If i dont get any updates on either I-751 or N-400 by then, i can submit a case inquiry before the 120 days for the N-400.

@GoodbyeGirl another thing that i forgot to mention about the N-400.. since I applied exactly on the 90 day mark.. there was a huge pink form in my application saying "potential application filed too early" i cant remember the exact words but the form basically says to make sure the application was not submitted too early. during the interview they brought this up and they were checking to see if i applied too early. it was quite weird actually but i explained to them i applied on the day i was elegible. they then asked me why i did that? as if i shouldnt have done it. so i had to explain to them why i applied exactly on the 90 day mark. i just said i did it because "when i was looking to apply for citizenship the website said i could apply 90 days prior to the expiration of the green card and so i went ahead and did it" they liked that answer i guess. not sure what else they were expecting :D

I'm glad you're feeling less stressed today. :)

Can't believe you were asked why you applied when you were eligible! The online system won't let you submit an application before then, but maybe you applied in the mail? But still, you'd have thought USCIS wouldn't have scheduled an interview if there was any chance it was too soon. I have heard that the interview does seem to hinge a lot on the personality and approach of the IO, no matter how suitable the candidate is.

I took an Uber the other day, and the driver was telling me his wife had just got her green card (he was out of state). He was sort of complaining that they were now embarking on the N400 journey, and that I was lucky in that I've got an interview this month for my N400.

I didn't feel like sharing, but I was thinking... 'erm, it's been around 17-months and I haven't actually got my green card yet! And, there's a chance that I could either get both my cases approved at my N400 interview, or I could end up in limbo.'

I was quite pleased when I could get out of his car! I was thinking the his wife was quite lucky to have gotten her green card in just 11 months. He was complaining about that too. Ha ha!

PS -  I applied on the earliest date I could too, online. Maybe I'll get a pink paper too.

Thanks :)

Yea no I definitely applied online xD and yea definitely get out of that car as fast as you can. Those people just have no clue! My manager is kind of the same. He applied for his 10 year green card (employment based) in June 2018 and got approved October 2018.. so i just over 4 months.. he has his 10 year green card. He keeps telling me that im lucky im applying for citizenship and that i have everything 'in the bag' and that i have nothing to worry about. and im like ................................................................... ive been in this process since January 14 2016 and we still havent got the 10 year GC yet xD

These guys just dont get it.

If you dont’ mind I’m asking what time did you filled? Was the priority date is the same as your eligible date of filling?

I’m applied exactly on the date I was eligible. Even though when I’m start the form it doesn’t let me submitted but I did go ahead and submit anway. I did use a calculate tool on uscis website.

Should I be worry?

Not that you did anything wrong by applying soon after your window opened, but be aware that some applicants have had their N400 initially denied because of this (see link below for a very recent case). I would be proactive and take evidence of the date of application with you to your interview, including payment confirmation by Pay.gov (see the linked thread for more information).

The denial in this case was overturned in short order. Best of luck!

Thanks to Informed Delivery, I can see a letter is coming today from my local field office. They sent it to my old address which is a bit of a worry, as the service centres have been mailing my new address since we moved.

It doesn't have the Statue of Liberty watermark, but I can see through the window the top of the letter starts with 'YOU MUST...' in shouty caps.

*tries not to worry*

I applied at like 6:15am Pacific Standard time. im 100% confident i filed when i became eligible. I was honestly thinking of submitting at midnight the day before but then i was like naaah im just gonna wait. Im an early bird so staying up till midnight would have been rough for me :D

It was a formal I-751 interview invitation, same time and date as my N400 interview - Tue 12 March at 8:30am.

I was breathing out until I realised I've run into a bit of a problem. The checklist says I must bring tax returns and federal income tax transcripts for the last 3 years. It states 'merely bringing copies of your 1040s is not acceptable'.

I tried to get the transcripts online via irs.gov but couldn't complete as we've just moved and the system doesn't recognise our mortgage account or credit card. So I've ordered them over the phone, but it can take up to 10 days to arrive, and there was no rush delivery option.

My interview is on the 12th, so I may have no choice but to go with just the 1040s. I am worried though, the top of the checklist says failure to bring any of the listed items 'will result in the denial of your application.'

Anyone else gone for the combi without the tax transcripts?

Hmmm.. I took my tax transcripts to my interview but they never asked for it. Is there a local IRS office near by where you can go visit? Maybe they are able to get your transcripts on the spot and so you wont need to get it mailed. Thats tricky! I hope you can get your transcripts in time!

If you apply for paper transcripts today, there's a good chance you'll have them by the 12th.
