The wait times have increased dramatically from a few years back, they are roughly double now vs 2 years ago. If you look at the data, average was indeed around 5 months back then, but it's nearly 11 months now.  https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/historic-pt

So as much as I'd love to take heart from your story, it's more realistic to go with what the current bunch of people interviewing have been seeing.

Yup but as i said it the yimes posted doesn’t mean is specific, there are factors some cases are gonna be faster than others for the same reason I’m telling you. ☺️

Sure I get that, but fact remains your wife was close to average time then and everyone else I have read about or know who has interviewed in the past few months is average for now, regardless what anyone's particular estimated time according to website is.

And yes, if you fall under SF field office, it's closest ASC for fingerprints then all interviews in SF and all oaths at the Paramount in Oakland.

id argue that wait times have trippled. my mom completed her i-751 in under 5 months. people are now waiting 15+ months. its crazy.

I751 times have indeed roughly tripled if you are comparing to around 2014 - look for the i751 row in the link i posted before - from 5.7 to 16 months. I was only talking about n400 re the doubling.

Is Cincinnati so much faster than other field offices that you're looking at days rather than months for your notice?!

I saw someone had interview 1 month after his finger print, so I just thought he may got the interview notice in one or two weeks, idk, maybe I'm wrong...

recently? in cincinatti? regardless, expecting an interview notice to arrive over a long weekend may be a tad optimistic ;)

There have been a couple of people I've seen get their interview appointment scheduled very quickly through Cincy - copied from the June and April threads:

UserName.........|GC-Date.|Sent.|Cashd|NOA..|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrview|Oath....|Field Office...........|NBC/IOE
kimbaljl.........|09/22/14|06/01|06/07|06/05|06/27/18|--/--/--|07/11/18|08/27/18|08/31/18|Cincinnati, OH.........|IOE

Though I'm not going to get my hopes up based on these. I know they are most likely outliers. But these are probably what SusieQQQ was referring to.

Awesome, would be interested to see if that’s normal for Cincinnati. At this rate it might be worth my while to move there, wait the requisite 3 months after a move to file, then do it and move back, I’d probably still get it all done before SF !!! :D

Edit to add: Cincinnati processing time for n400 is 4-12 months, definitely way at the low end vs many other FOs - so you may indeed get lucky and get it done fast https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

I stand by what i said cos i have talked to a few combo filers in WI who got interviews within 6 months of filing. One actually has an interview next week. On the other hand you could be correct, it is what it is

I hope you are right. Though it just shows that you really can't predict anything 😕

Did you have your biometrics yet? I haven't yet. It shows 18 months estimated wait-time for me... Haha, I really hope these are meaningless numbers lol. Milwaukee needs to hurry up... :D

I am hopeful.

i already did my biometrics on 10/29. my estimated wait time went from 20 months to 17 months but i am taking that with a grain of salt lol!

the guy who has the interview this week is a combo filer who filed in early May 2018 and he received his interview notice October 2018. His removal of conditions has been pending since August 2017

Did my biometrics today. My case status changed almost instantly to 'Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS' and needle on the wait time moved from 22 months... to 20. 🤔

For anyone interested in another take on how the appointment can go, read on...

I got there 20 minutes early for my 12pm appointment, and had to wait as everyone was at lunch. I nearly didn't get through security as I had a bottle of water on me, and that's a no-no. I wasn't allowed to dispose of it inside, they wanted me to take it to my car, but as I'd gotten a ride, I was a bit stuck. I ended up pouring it out over a nearby tree stump.

There was hardly anybody there, I sat in the waiting room by myself. The officer (behind the glass window) was quite chatty. I guess he was waiting for the next scheduled appointment and was quite happy to talk to me. He didn't have my case number, but he did tell me that my I-751 application will only be scheduled for interview if there aren't enough 'bona fide' evidences. If my case is straightforward it isn't likely to be processed at my local immigration office at all. It will all be done at the service center. He said there are two places in the States that print and produce 10-year green cards, day in, day out. Made it sound like a production line.

I was then called for fingerprinting and had to show my expired 2 year conditional green card and my appointment letter. I filled out a form - pretty standard, name, height, weight, eye colour, hair colour, country of birth, sex - and the officer took a new head shot photo and my right hand middle 3 fingers for finger printing. She told me they matched with my finger prints from 3 years ago, so no further prints were needed. I then had to digitally sign a statement confirming my details and that I understand the information I give must be honest.

The form I filled in was given back to me. I was told I could throw it away, but keep my Biometric Notification (I-797C) appointment letter, as she'd stamped it to confirm biometrics had been carried out.

She then gave me a 'Learn about the United States' booklet and said I have nice hair. 😋

As it was so quiet, I tried to get an appointment to talk to an officer some more about my I-751 case, but my local office don't allow walk-ins. I used a kiosk machine that was placed in the foyer (I guess to deter people from coming to the desk) and found the next available appointments were later this week. But, I didn't make one as I know I'm going to have to wait it out. I was just trying as I was there.

And that was it!

Oh wow! You have an interview for the 10 year green card? That's awesome. Are you asking for advice for the i-751 interview?

There's various threads on VJ detailing different experiences. You could just type 'I-751 interview experience' or something like that in the search box.

Out of curiosity, did you get an RFE? I'm trying to figure out if an interview is more likely after a round of RFE.
