Just curious, when did other Oct. 2018 N-400 filers start the immigration process?  We started 11/5/2013.  It's been almost 5 full years since we submitted an I-129F.  Seems like an eternity ago.

We started the green card process back in October/November 2014 so that my husband could come to America. So we've been working with USCIS for 4 years now! We can't wait to be done with it all.

July 2014 - Married in Seoul, Korea

October 2014 - Applied for 2-year Green Card

April 2015 - Arrived in America

January 2017 - Applied for I-751

May 2018 - Case Approved

May 2018 - Received 10-year green card

October 2018 - Applied for N-400

March 13, 2019 - Received interview date (April 17th)

Ha! You spousal visa people have it so easy! We filed F3 family based petition in (and with priority date) Dec 2008. Yup, nearly ten years ago. We got selected for DV lottery May 2012, DV visa interview June 2013, landed Dec 2013. If we hadn’t been selected in the lottery we wouldnt even have landed yet, we would STILL be waiting for our priority date to become current - F3 is currently at July 2006 so probably would still have another 3 years to go! So yeah you guys that come in on K1/C1/IR1 actually have it really easy both till interview and the shorter time to naturalize!

Wow! I had no idea. Thank you for sharing. Bet you've learnt a thing or two about endurance. Any tips?

What is I-129F?! 😮

We got married in August 2015. Filed for permanent residency the same month, August 2015. I got my (conditional) green card in January 2016. It went like a breeze...
Then I applied for ROC in Nov. 2017 and as we know, it is crickets since. Soooo slow.
Anyways, a little over 3 years since our marriage and 2 years 9 months since being my conditional GC approved.

I have no clue what a I-129F is, I never filed for anything like that.

I added my photos to a word doc and i will upload them as pdf.

For all our applications I have screenshot FB and IG and dropped the screenshots into a google Doc, then downloaded it as a PDF.  I did about 20-30 pix total each application and have never had an issue with getting approved (except long wait times).  But because our FB /IG names are on the screenshots I feel like they can always look us up online too if they need more proof.

I-129F is the paperwork to get a K1 Visa. I met my wife in 2012 online....went to Kenya a few times and then we decided to try to do the paperwork honestly just so she could visit and we could see if living together for 3 months we would want to get married....and it all went well so we did.

Oh! Gottcha!!! I am European so I came in on an ESTA visa-waiver and didn't need a K1 visa. We also had to get married within 3 months since ESTA is for 3 months. However, I met my husband 11 years ago when I was living here in the US as a student. My visa expired in 2009 (almost 2 yrs into our relationship, I also came in several times to the US on an ESTA staying for 1 - 3 months at a time and he also came for shorter (few weeks), and longer visits (few months), we were living together), then we did long distance, we also traveled and volunteered around the world together for over a year. So we did everything: long-distance with frequent communication, long-distance for no communication for 1-2 months at a time (I was working in remote villages in Kenya without electricity so I had no opportunity to contact online or even text), traveling together (24/7 together) and also living together. It wasn't until 2015 that we decided to settle in the US (at least for a while) and got married.

Us Europeans are lucky with the ESTA, the K1 seems like a pain. But yay, it worked out for you two! Your wife is super beautiful btw!

Thank you, I will show her your compliment.  Yes Europeans have it somewhat easier.  Even now when we go to Kenya to visit her family...I like to break up the trip by trying to find a really long layover in Europe somewhere (Ive been to London, Paris, Brussels, Zurich, Amsterdam for 10+ hrs or more).  2 years ago we had to switch my wife's tickets because we found out she couldn't leave the airport in London or Paris. SMH...this year we had a 12 hour layover in Doha and they told her she could leave the airport with the extension letter and her kenyan passport but when we got there they denied her and we were stuck in the airport for 12hours (we could have booked a 1 hr layover in Doha and onto Nairobi).  Since my wife is amazing, she insisted I go into Doha and leave her in the airport...which I did but just for an hour and I grabbed her some lunch from a local shop.  TBH, the only reason we are even doing the citizenship things is so my wife can have a US passport and we don't have to deal with these annoyances, plus getting a GC every 10 years...but the travel is definitely the more immediate issue.

I will be too. My 'goal' for this application is to submit twice as much evidence so they would hopefully approve my i-751 before the N-400. avoiding the combo interview. but im pretty sure that wont ever happen. im gonna try anyway.

That’s not going to happen. U are going to have a combo no matter what. Don’t over load them with a million  unnecessary  papers.. will only make ur case harder and more complicated

For those who have already done biometrics. Do they only want a copy of passport and expired GC and extension letter only? or do i need my drivers licence too?

My document tab is now showing, 2 days after filing on 24 Oct.

  • Wait time for biometrics, 29 days
  • Estimated case completion time, August 2020 (22 months) *gulp*

But I'm still excited because I now have a USCIS Online Account Number and the notice was issued from the NBC. Good things happen from there, right? Right?
