: We could not find the A-Number and/or DOS Case ID you entered.

 

Any advice?

Same case with us before - invalid receipt number both on my account and USCIS status check.

 

It only updated after the fingerprint review was completed.

Really nothing you can do but wait, as long as you receive a notice before, you should be fine.

Hi everybody! 

I wanted to share my experience traveling with the expired green card and the 18-month extension notice. I went to Argentina and came back in April, and every time I had to check in for a flight it took people around 40 minutes to figure out what to do with my documents (BTW, they just have to check you in with the green card and add 18 months to the expiration date on the green card, even if it is actually expired). I had the same problem at the DMV, where they put the wrong expiration name on the license by failing to add 18 months and then I had to go there again to fix it (which took around an hour too haha). I was told I could get the I 551 stamp on my passport to facilitate all this process. I am on the train back from the Chicago office for my info pass appointment to get the stamp. They told me it would not be convenient at all, because I cannot have both the stamp and the I797 at the same time, so they would have to cancel the letter for me to get the stamp, and that the stamp expires every six months so I would have to go renew it more often. Also, they said it would affect the expiration date on my license as well and that it would start expiring every six months (I wish they had told me all of this on the phone and saved me this commute lol). Anyway, just in case you were wondering if you needed to do the same, apparently getting the stamp is not the best option. I guess I'll have just have to arrive at the airport much earlier every time I travel from now on...

Ugh what a frustrating experience! I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that. We traveled with the extension letter to Colombia in January and there were no problems or delays, going or coming (aside from the same one we always had with just green card, of not being able to complete online check-in). So I wonder if it depends on the specific people on duty at the airline/airport where you are flying... I don't know! (We were flying on Spirit out of the Twin Cities.) Anyway I hope that you have better luck next time, that is really frustrating and stressful!

Hello All,

 

I was just looking into the numbers from USCIS and I think that the processing times are getting shorter. My analysis is from the  USCIS Quarterly forms where If you take a look for I 751 ROC for last year and year 2019 you will see that the pending cases are going down and going down quickly. If the trend will continue I do believe that we will see more and more approvals sooner than expected.

Approved cases are going up every quarter. In thousands.  ( reading posts from ROC May 2018 - I do see some approvals already which is 11-12 months after initial application ) 

Maybe I am wrong but I really think USCIS fixed the issues, spread their workload,doing more and now everything is moving again. Of course my theory will be more valid with the next USCIS data for the next quarter.

This is already lightly discussed in the shared thread. Some are optimistic others not (like me) and it's individual choice to be whatever but i did point out that

 

1) the I 751 cases receipt numers are still 45000 cases per quarter while USCIS only process 45000 cases meaning it doesn't catch up the speed for backlog

2) out of 45000 processed cases, i would assume 20% are processed concurrently with N400 due to long waiting time meaning that USCIS service center like CSC and VSC still fail to follow up the I 751 receipt numbers (becuz it's adjucated with N 400 by local office)

3) since USCIS conveniently consider I 751 not in high priority and given that election year is coming up in 2020 where surges of N 400 will be observed, it will slow down the processing time for I 751

 

I would give some credits to USCIS who used to process 23000 cases last year but 45000 cases this year but please note that in 2013 fiscal years USCIS was able to process 65000 cases per each quarter.

Many if-related, 

1) first of all if your goal is to be a USC (if you think US is your home and want to live here for most of your life without concerns resulting from immigration) 

2) if your local office is not backlogged for N400. Currently immigrants populated city like Houston takes at least more than 12 months for N400. If that's the case, probably it's wise to wait until I 751. 

3) During I 751 process, if you receive letter or notification that your interview is ready to be scheduled. 

-if you are going to do in person interview in I 751 you might wanna apply N400 to have two things at the same time knowing that you will have interview and your I 751 wont be adjucated without interview. Why interview twice if you can do both N400 anD I751? 

 

Again it really depends on your local office and specific circumstances. And this is why it is all about IFs.
