Updated my status. Received 2 copies of NOA1 but no biometrics. I traveled abroad and was back yesterday and they took my biometrics during entry so I'm assuming my biometrics would be waived. My GC expires on 01/25 so I have some time.

Hello, I'm in the process of removing condition on residence to get my 10-year green card. My green card will expire in the middle of January and I have submitted my form I-751 since the end of October and got the confirmation that USCIS received our case in the beginning of November but I still haven't gotten the receipt. I read that it approximately takes 3-5 weeks to get the receipt. It's already been 8 weeks now and I'm getting nervous. Does anyone also experience the same thing? I filed at Texas Service Center.

I finally called USCIS, shockingly I didn't have to wait for too long, and the lady gave me my receipt number, I'm very relieved, thank you for those of you who responded.

I honestly just think that the service centers are backlogged and that is why most of the people in this forum have not done biometrics yet. It would be interesting to see how many people on this forum have their biometrics waived, but I won't get too comfortable with the idea that your biometrics have been waived until they tell you so.

I can tell you that my husband had his biometrics appointment at the beginning of December (his case is at the Vermont Service Center, which seems to be the only one actually sending out timely biometrics appointments, sadly) so I can respond to your inquiry about when someone would have biometrics waived. He has traveled outside the U.S. four times since he got his green card, and has never been arrested for anything or even gotten so much as a parking ticket in his whole life. Again, I think not knowing about biometrics yet is simply a matter of the backlog! Doesn't seem to be a discernable rhyme or reason to it.

Jcra615: Yes I know. What i wrote was just trying to look at this from different angle. I think that USCIS should follow every step to make sure that all the applicants are eligible. Including back round checks, bio, interview and everything what is necessary to assure the validity of the application and its approval....I just think that it is taking so long and some people are desperately waiting for NOAs, bio letters or at least some kind of notification because their job, DL, travel or something else depends on it. I mean, it is 2019 , everyone here did pay the fees, so it should not take so long.

But with so many cases it must be chaos and I wish we could help them with this process. Process to speed it up. Nothing else.

Happy New Year!

Use of a Courier Service to Receive Certain Notices, Decisions or Travel Documents

Customers may be able to receive certain notices, travel documents or decisions faster if a pre-paid courier service mailer (envelope) is provided when filing an application or petition. This does not mean the case will be processed faster, just that the notice, travel document or decision may be able to get to the customer faster if a customer chooses to provide the prepaid courier envelope.

Since USCIS cannot independently verify the credit card numbers or courier account numbers of individuals or businesses, a prepaid mailer (envelope) will be required. For more information regarding obtaining pre-paid mailers, please consult with your courier service(s).

Items that may be sent via courier service include: approval notices (Form I-797), requests for evidence, notices of denial and/or intents to deny, and most travel documents. To take advantage of this service, the customer should include a completed mailer from the courier of his/her choice that complies with the following:

  • Is prepaid;
  • Is submitted at the time of filing or in response to a request for evidence; and
  • Includes the requestor's name and address in both the "sender" and "receiver" fields of the courier mailer.

Requests for this service that do not comply with the above requirements will result in decisions being sent through regular mail via the United States Postal Service.

Hi Good morning everyone, I just would like to ask if I need to wait for the USCIS to send me the notice to remove the conditions?. My GC will expire on June this year. Thanks!

No, in fact many of us have never received the notice.

Oh I see. A friend of mine received the notice and advised me to wait for it too however, I'm not sure if that is the best thing to do. Thanks for your response. By the way, how long should I wait to file? or I can file as early as now?. I know USCIS advise a 90 day window period.

The earliest you can file is 90 Days prior to the expiration date on your conditional green card.  Any earlier than that and it will be sent back to you.

How did you get your passport stamp? Did you go to USCIS office to do that?
