Hi all,

I sent my I-751 application with all supporting evidence back at the end of october. I received the letter for the bio-metric appointment for december 12, however I did not receive the extension letter, which I understand is the standard letter USCIS sends you as well.

Can someone advise if this is fine, or should I contact USCIS to inquire about this.

So it’s 29 days now since our last update and no NOA1 or Biometrics letter. Texas service center.

the NOA1 is more for a proof on paper to show where required and I’m not too worried about that since I’m not traveling internationally anytime soon. What I’m concerned about is missing my biometric appointment because of not getting the letter from uscis. Is this a genuine thing to worry about or Texas biometric appointments are more time away for all here ?

Hi GaiaAlan,

i have a similar  timeline to yours (case sent Oct 31, check cashed Nov 6), and also Texas service center, but no NOA letter yet.

Not expecting anything tomorrow either, since all of USPS is closed December 5 to commemorate George H W Bush.

So it looks like we will have to file non delivery of NOA. But I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this, as it seems quite a few people got no mail whatsoever.

01-16-2016: AOS package sent

01-09-2017: AOS (I-130 and I-485) granted

10-31-2018: I-751 filed

01-25-2019 NOA received (Extension letter, Biometrics waiver letter)

10-19-2019 Biometrics letter received

10-30-2019 Biometrics to be completed

Thanks for your reply - yes it seems like we would have to file that.

Now is there any difference between filing this via the USCIS customer service no or filing ourselves online ?

I got an email, a response to the e-Request I did few weeks back via customer care. The email promised to schedule and send my biometric letter, I didn't know what to actually do as regards the NOA hard copy. I hope the to receive the both letters soonest. Notwithstanding, been that getting infopass in Houston TX has been an issue, I had to book an infopass to get my passport stamped next week at Harlingen TX. I don't really want my GC expired without any tangible proof of my residency. I hope to get the letters before the infopass date which is next week, if my NOA hard copy comes in before then, then I will cancelled the booked infopass. As for the USPS I made mentioned of previously, for my zip code, there has been lots of reported discrepancies about the said mailman. He was fired for that incompetency, I said neighbor had severally brought my mails that was put in her mailbox wrongfully to my door, he never pay attention to his job, and such act had caused me lots of stress. Accepted, we all can't be in same shoe, however, it is imperative that mine could have been circumstances owing to the fact of negligent of the mailman. Really glad with the new dispatcher, spoke with her today and she told me same thing about the previous mailman, I also registered inform delivery so I can get hold of my incoming mails...

As @Patsyuchok mentioned, today is the Day of Mourning in the memory of President George H. W. Bush, so all the federal agencies are closed, including USCIS and USPS.

I am at day 36 without NOA 1 and Bio.

Same situation here. My husband's biometrics appointment is Dec 10th, with no NOA1 yet. Vermont Service Center (EAC). He still has until the end of January for his green card to expire, so I'm not too worried about this. Seems to be a general backlog in all the service centers.

I'd say give it a bit more time before plotting your next move, unless your green card is close to expiring (then I'd say find an infopass appointment to get your passport stamped). Another member here said they went to an infopass appointment and was unable to get their passport stamped because there were more than 30 days left of validity on their green card....you may want to keep this in mind as well.

Hi. No update here.

I think it will take a lot of time. Reading other posts. Maybe it has something to do with actual expiration date of the GC....Maybe USCIS knows that whole process will take at least 18 months and the processing times are much greater so they are waiting with NOA letters. Regardless -  they should let us know that they have received the application, fee and it is being proccesed. We should have received some sort of receipt from them. But we did not.

I am so glad we can support each other here and I was able to take some steps reading similar post here on VJ to make sure that USCIS has my application.

My GC is expired now. I took a screen print of the txt message from USCIS as well as the picture of my DHS account which says that case was received and fingerprint fee was received. I don`t plan to travel outside of US in near future so I`ll wait what will happen next. If needed Ill take the LIN number and file for infopass. Meanwhile it is just a waiting time.

I just wish we would have some kind of explanation or at least a statement so we don`t have to worry so much. It is almost impossible to explain to friends ( US citizens ) what we are going through. They do not believe this. Telling me to call and complain, that they would not be doing nothing and stayed in limbo if they would be in our shoes. But we all know it takes time.

Well. Yet again. No update here. Have a nice Wednesday everyone!....:-)

Thanks for everyone sharing their experience. Like Brunno wrote all the posts have been helpful and supportive. It's already a prolonged and stressful process, but I am glad we can get information from each other at least!

I filed for ROC on October 31st to the Arizona PO box, the mail got delivered on November 1st and the check was cached on November 6th. I still haven't received my NOA and my green card and drivers license are expired.

What's my next step? Do I call them? I'm located in Southern California.

ETA: Please no judgment about late filing, I know we could've timed it much better and not have this problem now. The check was cached before the green card expiration though.

@Hik07 we're also early November LIN filers and haven't received anything about biometrics, though we received our extension letter in the mail about a month ago. Nothing online either. I'm nervous about it going missing as well, but I think probably they're just slow. And I wonder if it has to do with local offices at all, and how busy they are.

@umikoikaze, I filed late too , it happens. I actually had a very valid reason for filing late; I traveled and didn't want to miss the biometrics appointment. In hindsight I could have filed way earlier as I still haven't received anything. Whatever your reason for filing late is, as long as they cashed your check before your GC expired you're fine. And if you don't need to travel just hang in there. Otherwise you could get an infopass appointment to get your passport stamped. That would definitely help if you need to renew your drivers license.

You can call USCIS after day 30 after they cashed your check and get a service request for your application. So you could call tomorrow.

That's what I did. Someone else here got their NOA 2 weeks after filing a service request; hopefully it helps.
