She marked the NOA1 in their "non-receipt" category, and request a re-send of NOA1 within 15 days. If another 30 days go by, then we can call back again.

 

I entered the LIN number during the call on the Case Status Check website (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do) but it says:

 

So the rep says there is one more site we should sign up for case status - MyUSCIS, and "Add a paper-filed case" (https://my.uscis.gov/account/onboarding/track/new). I entered the same LIN number and it shows:

 

So now I will cross my fingers and wait for NOA1 to arrive, hopefully before December 20.

  this was my exact situation with same messages..I called after the 30 days and they sent out my I-797  18 month extension letter received it about a week after calling them...My message still says the same thing on the on site and on the USCIS tractor is says its not a valid number. Bottom line is we have the letter now...

Here in Pa we had same situation with drivers license expiring same day as green card. We got the extension letter Monday and Tuesday took letter to DMV and they issued her a valid drivers license for18 months from her green card expiration date. a reduced fee because it was only for 18 months ( pleasant surprise only $20.00)...spent 2 hours there but we left with updated license. I was originally told we would have to wait 3 to 6 weeks for them to verify with USCIS of her status but they accepted the letter for us. We will have to come back when this expiries and do it all over again. Hoping to have 10 card by than but not to optimistic about that.

Yes definitely the i551 stamp is another presentation of the permanent resident card.  Actually the Permanent resident card is the uscis form I-551. 

So when you don't have it as a card, you can have it as a stamp in your passport or on a form I-94 with your picture (if passport unavailable). 

 

All type of presentation of the form I-551 is a valid proof of legal residency and authorization to work. 

So yes you can definitely work with your I551 stamped in your passport (it's your green card stamped in your passport).

@Hik07 , how long did it take you to get your NOA1? am running at 34 days now with no NOA1 in mail, I got the text and the receipt # on 10/22

We mailed our form on the 27th of Oct and just received the NOA1 today on 10/24, with the Vermont Service Center. Our NOA indicates that our biometrics appointment is scheduled for Dec 6. 


Question: Will USCS provide an extension letter only after the biometrics?

@Redotjersey I think we are in the same boat. I'm in NJ too and also my case is at VSC. My I 751 package got to TX on Oct 26th. Check cashed on Nov 1st. 

Today I received a notice for fingerprint (appointment date is Dec 3rd) but no extension letter yet. 

Normally I see people receive an extension letter first. I guess we just have to wait and see but I'm planning to call them next week if the extension letter doesn't show up this week.

Yup, NOA1 is the extension letter.

People are receiving them before getting their biometrics done for sure. The Vermont Service Center just seems to be scheduling their biometrics appointments quite quickly, so it seems that some are getting appointments before their NOA1 actually arrives.
