Timeline

Have some updates on my application, although I have since received an email saying that my interview has been cancelled because of COVID-19 (even though my date is outside the time when their offices will be closed).

I-751 Timeline:

10/03/2018 - Sent I-751 to USCIS via FedEx
10/09/2018 - I-751 received by USCIS

10/15/2018 - Check cashed by USCIS

10/19/2018 - NOA1 I-797 issued - 18 month extension letter

11/02/2018 - Biometrics Appointment issued for November 23, 2018

11/23/2018 - Biometrics Appointment
03/03/2020 - Received Notice that case has been transferred from Vermont Service Center to National Benefits Center in Missouri for faster processing.
So I went over 15 months without hearing anything until two weeks ago.

N-400

09/09/2019 - Sent I-751 to USCIS via FedEx

09/12/2019 - N-400 Received by USCIS
09/16/2019 - I-797C Notice of Receipt of N-400 issued

09/21/2019 - Biometrics appointment scheduled

09/24/2019 - Biometrics Appointment

03/09/2019 - Interview scheduled for April 20, 2020

I assume that they would conduct a combination interview for both I-751 and N-400.

On March 18, 2020, I received a letter with this notice:

Dear Stakeholder,
Effective March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is suspending routine in-person services at its field offices, asylum offices, and Application Support Centers (ASCs) to help slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This suspension of public service will be in effect until at least April 1.

We are sending you this notice because we have cancelled your upcoming appointment, interview, or ceremony. Please refer to the chart below for instructions on what, if anything, you need to do:

If you were scheduled for a naturalization or Green Card interview: You don’t need to do anything. We will mail you a new interview notice when normal operations resume.

My lawyer still advised me to be prepared to appear on that date, but I don't see it going ahead.

I’m really worried about the extension letter too... my husband’s runs out in June, and he has a trip in August to visit his family back home. Hoping he can get an appointment to get a stamp before then..

Hello,

So we were able to find out that extension letter is not important if you don`t have to leave country. If you have a ROC - I751 pending you are still ok even the GC or the letter is expired.

We have called USCIS and we also used their chat and the agents told us that USCIS offices are closed for the public till at least June 4th. They told us that offices are closed for public but USCIS is still processing applications. So being said maybe they will approve us before the letter will expire. ( I don`t think so..:-))

We have canceled all the travel plans due to Covid-19. We don`t want to take the risk to expose us to it on the plane or during the visit. We don`t want to spend 14 days with the fewer or be quarantined for 2 weeks in the Europe and 2 weeks in the US when we would come back.

It is simply not worth it for us.

Everybody is in the same boat with this pandemic and we are waiting for the scientists to come up with the solution when we will not be afraid to live a normal life.

I hope that visajourney will not be mad at me but these information mentioned above I do have from other members here and we are also using ***removed*** . com

In our situation we are desperate for any info we can get sometimes with a process with USCIS. So again : I am not trying to promote different site here but simply show to the other members other option to cross reference the available info.

I hope this will help.

Stay safe and have a nice day!

Well , right away the other site name was ***removed***. So you would have to find it on the net. Sorry

Like we said in our original post:

It was not our intention to promote different web site. We do love VISAJOURNEY.com and we are glad and happy we can use this platform to search and share the information with other members about immigration process. Visajourney was/is/will be very big part of our journey. Thank you visajourney....:-))

Hi Guys, I have been a silent follower of VJ for years, I think its time to come break my wonderful news and give useful tips on how I was able to scale through the crazy process with the Grace of God.

Total processing time for my case  : 18 months and 20 days exactly Texas SRC Filer .

I was sent RFE in February 2020 ,  same week we moved from our residence of 3 years ,I know  it might take forever to finally get it in new updated mail , so I  updated my new address online  and  get on the phone with USCIS Agents , the first immigration that called me was not friendly , he insisted I wait till I receive it in the mail. That might take forever.  I never gave up. I got on the phone again few days after , fortunately , a friendly officer called and emailed me the RFE immediately while we were having conversation .

My marriage was having issues since a year now , me and Hubby living separately since February 2020 when our lease ended , My U.S Citizen Spouse insisted she is not including me in her new lease . So you guys should note I did not submit a new lease with my RFE,  But we have enough evidence and we were very  cordial with each other and I still use  her home address for all my correspondence . You can see list of what I submitted in the cover letter sample we both wrote to USCIS and signed below.

Few days ago, I called to enquire about why my case was taking longer than necessary and why was it sent to local field office. 2 officers told me at different times  that it is a must that we will be invited for interview once the office is open again after covid-19. I kept praying and believing God will work miracles and as  a Muslim , Its Ramadan season and I was crying to God everyday to intervene. As I know our interview may not go well , we are not living together for now.

Just got naturalization certificate back! A little bent here-and-there, but overall in decent shape.

Except for updating SSA and DMV am TOTALLY DONE now. YAAAY!

Profile pic - Rainbow Tower of the Hilton Hawaiian Village - Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.

My case was received by USCIS early October, 2018 (Nebraska). I did my bio around July, 2019 and didn't hear anything since then. My 18 month extension expired few months back. I am planning to attend college soon and I submitted my application. They sent me an email saying I was admitted and my status show 'checking legal status'. Just last week, I contacted Ombudsman immediately with a print version of the email and they replied within 2 days saying they have reached-out to USCIS. Boy little did I know this would lead to my approval 5 days later! Some 675 days later, I couldn't believe when I see the case tracker app notification "New Card is Being Produced". Stay strong and you will soon get approved. Cheers!

Just an update for anyone still waiting around. I filed late October 2018 and my case was at CSC. Nothing changed on my case for about 400 days and today my status changed to "New Card Is Being Produced"!

I hope the same will happen to those still waiting.
