Thank you Soley,

No, We did not apply for N400 yet. We were so excited that LIN #s are getting the approvals so fast ( since Oct.2019 ) that we thought we will get approved also.( this feeling we have for 4 months now). Also we have a baby and we don`t want to have combo interview and drag the baby with us. But if nothing will change till March,2020. We will apply for N400. It is our goal to became the citizen. We love the US and we like to live and stay here....:-))

This system is taking a big toll on us. The journey is way too long. But we do understand that one day this all will be behind us.

Have a nice day.

Brunno...:-))

Oh yes Brunno, one day it will all be a faint memory, and we will have stories to tell about it. I have seen many people who applied for citizenship while they still had not received their card, it looks like it might even speed it up. In hindsight it is what I should have done as soon as I was eligible for the application.

The journey is long indeed. Good luck and patience...

Soley

I recently came across this information and thought it would be interesting to share here.

It is another reason to NOT wait for the approval of the I-751 before applying for the citizenship.

Did you know that, to be protected by law against discrimination based on national origin or citizenship status, a person has to apply for naturalization within six months of the date they first become eligible?

You can read about this here: https://www.justice.gov/crt/8-usc-1324b-unfair-immigration-related-employment-practices

(3) “Protected individual” defined

As used in paragraph (1), the term “protected individual” means an individual who--

(A) is a citizen or national of the United States, or

(B) is an alien who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence, is granted the status of an alien lawfully admitted for temporary residence under section 1160(a) or 1255a(a)(1) of this title, is admitted as a refugee under section 1157 of this title, or is granted asylum under section 1158 of this title; but does not include (i) an alien who fails to apply for naturalization within six months of the date the alien first becomes eligible (by virtue of period of lawful permanent residence) to apply for naturalization or, if later, within six months after November 6, 1986, and (ii) an alien who has applied on a timely basis, but has not been naturalized as a citizen within 2 years after the date of the application, unless the alien can establish that the alien is actively pursuing naturalization, except that time consumed in the Service's processing the application shall not be counted toward the 2-year period.

Thanks for sharing. What a strange rule.

Almost there....next Friday - Will be a US CITIZEN!!! YAAAY!

You can find many videos of oath ceremonies online.

Here is one such ceremony in Tampa, taken last month:

....

January 24th 2020 | Tampa USCIS Office

75 people became American Citizens from 30 different countries

Profile pic - Rainbow Tower of the Hilton Hawaiian Village - Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.

BENEFICIARY (From Dubai)

2012 - US Tourist Visa, Manila, Philippines

2012 - First Night spent in the US - Waikiki Beach, Honolulu

2016 - Wedding on the beach, Honolulu, Hawaii

2016 - Honeymoon at the hotel in this photo, Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii

They were filming a scene of Hawaii Five-O in the suite above ours during our Honeymoon stay! Actors everywhere!

Spouse hung out here with celebrities from the movie The Fifth Element back when he moved to Hawaii

2016 - US Spousal Visa, via DCF, Manila, Philippines

....................................

PETITIONER (from NYC)

1999 - Got a place right down the street from this hotel - Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii

2007 - Visited Philippines on vacation

2008 - Got a condo in Makati, PH

2012 - Considered for a role on the TV show, The Last Resort, shot out of Hawaii

....................................

01/2012 - B1/B2 Tourist Visa, Manila, Philippines

Hi All,

Well, Still nothing. Still crickets. More than 16 months since USCIS received our ROC.

Not sure what to do. Extension letter will expire soon. I think we have to request new one or go for a stamp. But how?

Any ideas what to do now?

Thanks

I will have my N-400 interview tomorrow and I am assuming I will have the combo interview. However, I didn't receive any letter from the USCIS related to the I-751 interview.

For those who received a letter specifically for the I-751 interview, what documents does the letter say you must and should bring?

Hi,

I guess everybody who already got approved left the forum. My extension letter will expire soon and ROC still pending since OCT.`18. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do next? Should we call USCIS or still wait?

What about people who filled for N400 with ROC pending? Did they receive the extension letter again or did they have to go for a stamp? How does it work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, don’t fret. You can always apply for an extension on your green card. Schedule an info pass by CALLING USCIS. You can no longer file online. Once you call, they’ll schedule someone to call you back to schedule your info pass appointment. On your appointment, bring your existing GC and passport. They will put a stamp on your passport and that will serve another year of extension while your ROC is pending.

Good luck!

I had the I-751 and n-400 combo interview today and was approved on the spot!

It is worth mentioning that I brought the documents related to a traffic ticket I had even though the fee was less than $500, and the Officer made copies and attached to my case, saying it is not something she usually requires, but even though the documentation for this type of offense if not required, it is up to the discretion of the officer. So if you had any traffic offenses, bring every document, letter, receipt with you in case they ask for it.

Also, my spouse is Active Duty and I take advantage of the MSRRA, so I didn't have the ID from the state of the jurisdiction. The Officer got a little confused about that and was telling me that I would have to get a local state ID and submit it before she made the approval, but in the end she clarified it with her supervisor and said I didn't need to do that and I will be able to use my out of state ID in the oath ceremony.

For the I-751, Even after my N-400 case status is showing as approved, my I-751 case status didn't change, even though the Officer said it was approved. I think that is OK because the GC doesn't matter anymore if I am getting the citizenship.

Just waiting for the oath ceremony to be scheduled now.

Good luck to y'all!

Did you need a specific reason for expediting, or just that it had been a while since your case had been filed?

We are an active duty military family and on orders to move to another duty station in a different State very soon. The senator’s office recommended us to try a request for expedite processing through them, although they also told us it was just a try without any guarantees that the request can be approved. We were told that senators nowadays do not have much influence on USCIS processing unless the case is way outside the USCIS published average processing timeframe.
