Congrats!! I am really happy for you. Did they ask you for that sworn statement?

Thank you!

No they had their own sworn statement prepared and just made me sign it right there.

I brought wayyyy too much paperwork. All they needed were the orders and proof of deros, my green card and passport, travel itinerary. And the interview appointment letter of course.

I applied today for my passport in DC directly and I’m able to pick it up tomorrow. Everything has been a smooth process so far.

Yes it had to show that I’m leaving the US again within 45 days.

And yes i have to update status with social security office but they told us it takes 15 days for the system to recognize the naturalization so they recommended not updating it til in about 3 weeks to give the systems time to sync up

We were not able to update unfortunately. If you have enough time, go ahead and update, if not, then when you are in the states again.

I just wanted you all to know that I was just (well, today) sworn in as an US citizen. 🇺🇸

It was a nice ceremony and the interview wasn’t as bad as expected.

Thank you for all the help here!

Oh-.. I checked every few days to see how things turned out for you! So happy for you and your family!!!

Since you guys have all been going through this or still in the process - how do I start? Do I just fill out the N-400 and ask for expedite or does my husbands command need to fill out some extra information because we are now stationed overseas?

How long did it take you guys to get your expedited N-400 approved? Hashtagme - it took you a little over six months, right?

On the N-400 form there’s a box to check if you’re doing this under 319b and you check that if it applies to your situation.

Filing date was December 12, my naturalization  Interview was on June 10 and the ceremony on June 11. So yeah, about 6 months for me.

Good luck to you 😊

So, I have a question. Would it be okay if I went to the states to stay with my family and then come back to Germany once I get my citizenship? Since I have the online account I would be able to get and print the interview notice. I am just a little depressed not working and since we don’t have kids I have nothing to do.

On that note: so I know what to take with me. What documents do I bring to the interview?

I can’t answer your first question but regarding the 2nd.. I brought a 5lbs folder with me with paperwork 😅 just to have every possibly needed paper but ended up only needing the DEROS paperwork of my husband, my green card and my itinerary for the flights back to Europe. Oh, and the interview notice letter.

On the notice it says you would need also marriage certificate, divorce decrees if applicable and birth certificates.

My interviewing officer didn’t want to see any of that. But I had sent in copies of all of that previously with the N-400.

Good luck!🍀

Thanks. Trust me I have an entire binder too lol. I’m just trying to travel lighter lol. I sent in a lot with my n-400 application even a copy of my sofa card. Based on your timeline I’m looking at an interview around October and I put the field office where my family lives so it would be easy for me to just go from there to the interview.  If they just need the return information then I should be good. I wouldn’t buy the return ticket until I get the interview notice so I at least have a ball park of when I should come back to Germany

Gosh, guys, please bare with my for my stupid questions but am I allowed to file electronically if filing unter 319 (b)?

When I was doing mine, I read this in the “where to file” section of n-400. So I paper filed. Also, I think it’s smarter to paper file since u have to send in fingerprint cards (done on military base) with your application.

Hey so I got an interview notice and it says I need my husbands birth or naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship. I sent in a copy of it with my n-400 application. Do I still need to bring the original? I have the original and copies of everything in my folder. I’m trying to offload some paperwork lol. See what is necessary and what’s not.

second question: traveling back to Germany, will I need a sofa stamp or just my orders and passport?
