Just got an email that Canada post has picked up my passport from the consulate and the expected delivery date is Dec 31st but on the off chance it’s going to be at the post office today before closing at 5:30, we are going to take a run down there and see if we can pick it up today. Woohoo.

Oh, that’s good news!!! One would think by paying for home delivery it would faster. Will be interesting to see who gets it first, post office or home delivery...

We took a quick trip down to the post office and the guy said it wasn’t there but he’s pretty confident that we will have it before noon on Monday. Hopefully that’s true and we can catch a flight that night out to California.

So for sure they deliver on Monday? What about Saturday?

Our estimated delivery date was today and we haven’t received anything. We’re going to our nearest post office first thing tomorrow on the off chance that it was delivered at 7pm today. We’ve found that Xpresspost often doesn’t bother to deliver to our door, instead preferring to go straight to a nearby post. Gah so stressful! We thought for sure we’d be flying out tomorrow... ><

The post office that we're going to be picking up my passport at is 800 Boulevard Rene Levesque Ouest and they are closed on Saturday and Sunday and open on Monday at 8am to 4pm.    You might want to check n see if your post office is even open tomorrow on a Saturday.

Oh I see, so yours is not through Xpress post? When we called Xpress post yesterday, they told us if we didn’t get our passport yesterday then the earliest we’ll get it is Wednesday because they are closed for the weekend and New Years! this is SO frustrating😭🤯

OMG the hoops you/we have been though. First the police cert, then CEAC being down, then the postal strike, now the holidays UGH!!!!!!!

So what's the passport return time averaging? Granted it is the holidays, and things *should* be a bit better after January starts. Just curious.

Well for me, my interview was Dec21st and I’m pretty sure I’m picking up my passport on Monday. That’s makes it about 4 businesses days, not including the days they were closed for the holidays.

We just got our tracking number this morning, finally, but it says that the number isn't valid yet. How long did it take before your number worked? Same day or the next day? @MC1 @Loois

The package showed up on the Canada post’s tracking site about 5 hours after getting the email with tracking info.

Is your final pick up location a post office?

Mine is, and I called Canada post as well, and a supervisor told me that if I track the package and see that it’s arrived to your local depot (closets sorting location before final post office destination where you pick up visa), you can call the depot and get them to send it over to your post office ASAP instead of wait for it to slowly make its way to that final destination.  Hopefully you can request that.  Mine hasn’t reached my local depot yet.  When it does, I’ll try calling.

How do I find the local sorting facility here in Montreal?
