Does anyone have a 7:30am

appointment?  I do, but I haven’t heard of that early of a time before.

There were some there today that did. Probably only 2-3 had that time Id guess, based on the fact that I was #6,and I know #4/5 were also 8am. The ones at the front of the line were 7:30 for sure, I heard them talking.

If you’re 7:30 you should be out by 9-9:30 I bet...again that’s just from what I saw today

Omg.  I live in Vancouver, so that’s like a 4:30am interview time for me.

But at least you will be in and out fast! I’d take it!! Better than sitting around for literal hours. I felt bad because I was #6 and it was 10:30 or so when I was called, and I know #19 was also waiting...that’s a long wait for sure!

Good point.  Wow, they start early!

So nervous!

Don’t be, it’s very straightforward. Have your documents ready, and you’re good. Simple as that(says the guy who’s now done). But it’s really straightforward and no tricks involved.

Good luck regardless

Thanks for your input.  Very much appreciated.

And congratulations on a successful interview!!

Good Friday evening everyone. So, I  was in Montreal today for my 8am appointment.  Despite taking almost 3 hours, it’s done and over with, and more importantly, a success. Im very relieved.

Thanks to to this site I had a pretty good idea of what was gonna happen, and it pretty mich did, as I’ve read on here. I was 8am, got to the embassy at about 7:45 and I was #6. My advice to everyone, get there sooner. I didn’t leave the embassy until 1040am, waiting times combined made up almost 2.5 hours of that time.

as people have said, they call you up and take your documents. Then you wait and wait and wait. Eventually I was called up and the interview itself was quick and easy, no trickery.

But I did manage to get some very important information regarding passport delivery and pick up! THEY ARE NOT MAILING OUT PASSPORTS DUE TO THE CANADA POST STRIKE(This is effective Oct 17th, and can be read on the state department website as well). And the next part is good or bad, depending on where you live. Residents of Ontario and Québéc have the option to pick up the passport in person. They said my “package”(which is really just my passport) should be ready by Wednesday, 3 business day turnaround, and they will call Tuesday to confirm. The rest of the Canadian applicants are at the mercy of the Canadian post office strike, is basically what I was told by the gentleman that did my interview. Sorry to be the bearer of this news. And paying extra for the courier service doesn’t do it either as the courier service they chose to use was, you guessed it, Canada Post.

Overall, aside from sitting for what felt like eternity, it was pretty straightforward process.

feel free to ask me anything and I’ll fill in any missing pieces or questions from my experience there today.

congrats to everyone who got dates, and good luck to those with appointments coming up...Courtney, didn’t see you guys anywhere in the city, but good luck Monday.

As someone from BC, I was planning on staying in Montreal until my passport is ready to pick up. Are you saying that they are only letting Ontario and Quebec residents to do that, or are you just assuming that only those residents will stay for it?

Not making any assumptions, the gentlemen that did my interview told me “we are allowing residents from Ontario and Quebec to pick up their passports in person”.

Courtney has her interview this Monday I believe so she may be able to confirm specifically what happens if you stay longer to wait for it, but that’s exactly what I was told by the embassy official.

Im from Ontario and need to drive back, 8 hours to pick it up. So it’s definitely not about who is simply willing to wait.

I hope they will let you pick it up if you wait, but that’s just not what I was told.

Wow. My case is really different. I’m flying in from Mexico, staying in Montreal through the whole medical, interview, pick up stage. Hope they will allow that! I’m a Canadian residing in Mexico. I have to fly to Canada, fly back to Mexico, then drive to the US with my hubby and dog.

Listen, I really hope they would allow everyone to pick them up regardless of where you reside! I’m definitely on the side of all of us applicants!

To me, if you’re will to stay and wait, then why not?

Maybe the embassy themselves assume that only Ontario and Quebec residents will stay, if so, that’s not how it came out when he said it. But, it has me wondering as well.

Well I’d estimate early February unless they speed up. Hopefully sooner but it seems like 3 months is the going rate lately.

I dont know my lawyer said i should hear a notice from them in 4 to 6 weeks unless hes lying. I thought id get an interview at least in January.

You might be lucky for late January, but at the rate they've been going I would agree that February is more likely.

My lawyer said the pretty much the same thing, and I ended up waiting 11 weeks to get my date alone, and interviewed 14 weeks after my cc. It seems that most people are approximately the same, 2-3 months or so.

i hope you get it sooner, just telling you my recent experience and what it appears like on this site.

the beauty of this site is that you can track others peoples cc dates and see when they get their interviews, and estimate yours along with theirs, as far as timing.
