IR-1 Visa with CC on 16 Aug, called NVC yesterday on the 2-month since date and was blown away to hear that I was scheduled for 20 Nov interview. NVC said email would follow, and it did today (almost exactly 24 hours after I called).

For folks getting medicals in Toronto, which Dr. did you choose and why?

Also, just checked CEAC and it indicates "Your case is currently at: Montreal."

I'm currently living at my cottage (sold house in Ottawa and wife established domicile in US in August) but had to pull the water line out of the lake today with forecast tonight at -6C.

Now I have to go couch surf at my 93 year old mother's house (I'm 57) until my interview. I'm practically a Millenial!

Patience is gruelling, but it eventually pays off.

We just got our case closed/ documentarily qualified with the NVC today (October 17th)! So happy to be on to the final steps. For any other October filers out there, I am wondering if we might get interviews in December. I count 12 people on here from August who got interviews in November. I count 6 from September who are waiting to hear about interviews. Maybe they will be able to squeeze in some October people in December? Perhaps optimistic but... fingers crossed!

Just got Documents Qualified today as well. I hope everything will

be done by Dec.

I received 2 messages from NVC at the same time. One saying the petitioner does not meet the minimum income, but I included my assets here in Canada as proof of assets and we filled out form i-864. Second message saying we are documentarily qualified. Wondering what we should do now?

As much as this sucks to hear, it means that the interviewing consular officer will make the decision at the interview. I would bring as much proof of income to the interview as you can in order to show that you meet the requirements. You are just going to have to plead your case at the interview. You may also want to show that your spouse has a trade or a profession that will earn an income. They just want to know that we're not bringing our spouses into the country whereupon they will be come dependent on the government for assistance. Hope this helps.

Sigh, thanks Lauren! I just called NVC and they said the same thing. I may have to arrange for a back up co-sponsor, in case the Embassy does not accept my assets.

I’m going to Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas (visa doctor website) namely because of location.  I was able to get my appointment set up easily and they have been able to fit me in on Monday (so less than a week from when I contacted them).

Does anyone know if you have to physically pick up the medical results or they get mailed to you? I’m wondering because I’m in Ottawa but have family in Toronto and thought about doing my medical there a few weeks before my interview, once I get a date, instead of going to Montreal twice (even though Montreal is closer).

I did mine in Toronto and you have a choice to pick up or to mail to you, it cost $50 to mail me I am from London, Ontario. All together $400.00 if this help

Too funny, I live in Sarnia.

Has anyone read anything on how long exactly it takes to get the passport back in the mail from the embassy?
