Luckily my husband lives in Montreal. So good that he doesn't have to fly anywhere. Looks as though Montreal has the longest wait to get an interview....

The interview can only be done in Montreal. The medical, you have a few more choices in terms of location!

The last page of what? I’ve never heard about this, and would be interested in what it has to say.

Also, does anyone know anything about filing for Canada “departure tax”?

anyways TNN, can you send a copy of the link to that EI article or the exact name of the thread that has the link?

update: tried to find it and I found a link from 2006, is that the one you were seeing? If so, that info would need to be seriously double checked since it’s so old. I’m gonna do what I can to look into this and see if it’s legit.

Here's the link:

The last post gives a summary and that person talks about doing the procedure in the last year or so. The post is dated Feb of 2018.

My CC date is August 14, Interview date November 16! 💖

I called and apparently I was suppose to receive an email, but never did. They said they'll resend the email with the date and information.

Definitely glad I called. Next step is to book medical exams.

Was wondering from people who booked with medisys in Montreal, do they do them for IR1 visas?

Cause they do provide a list of approved physicians in Canada but I feel they are really out of my way since I am from Alberta.

Did anyone get an email yet that recently got their appointment date by calling? We haven't gotten anything! Makes me nervous with what little time we have to plan everything. November 6th interview date.

We just got our case closed/ documentarily qualified with the NVC today (October 17th)! So happy to be on to the final steps. For any other October filers out there, I am wondering if we might get interviews in December. I count 12 people on here from August who got interviews in November. I count 6 from September who are waiting to hear about interviews. Maybe they will be able to squeeze in some October people in December? Perhaps optimistic but... fingers crossed!

KN2018 we should start a list like the August filers did. Do you want to copy and tag the other September and October people that you know about in this? Courtney made this suggestion, and I think it's a great idea!

@MtnBoarder : I did a bit more research to make sure that EI is still claimable when moving to the US. All of the information I am referencing comes from this webpage: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/ei/ei-list/reports/outside-canada.html

If people are referencing this in the future, please make sure the information is still relevant.

You can claim Canadian EI if you reside in the United States. There are instructions on how to file online on the webpage referenced above. It says that you must provide proof that you are legally authorized to work in the US, which I assume your visa and SSN will do.

I have also seen it referenced elsewhere that you must apply for EI within 4 weeks of leaving your job, even if you don't have your SSN card yet.

This is good news for me at least :)

I will be looking more into the ins-and-outs of how to apply so I am prepared to apply right after I move.

I'm one of the September cases still waiting and hoping for a December appointment (cc: sept 13th).  I'm not even sure i'm going to be getting one then since December is a short month for them considering the holidays and closings.  They might only do them up until like the middle of the month or so????  Anyone have any info from previous years on who Montreal works in December for interviews?

@SKB2017 I understand your calculus... just trying to optimistic! I'm really hoping September filers will get their dates soon. It looks like the Consulate is officially closed for holidays Dec 24th and 25th as well as Jan 1st and 2nd. That doesn't account for people taking holidays in addition to those dates so you're probably right that it does slow down.
