Yep - coming to terms with we are probably going to go out of normal processing and then it's just a guessing game from then.

I've heard both horror stories and success from case enquiries after normal processing times.

@Greenbaum - do you happen to know the process for after going out of normal processing? Thank you in advance

The process is more waiting. But there is some things you can do.

  1. You can file a case out of status with USCIS https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do
  2. You email the ombudsman (cisombudsman.publicaffairs@hq.dhs.gov) and they will auto-reply with a link to a form to file a follow-up. The ombudsman is an independent contractor not affiliated with USCIS and when they make an inquiry on your behalf USCIS will respond.
  3. Send a letter with all the details of your case to your U.S. representative's contact information can be found in this handy directory, and your U.S. senator's information is in this one.
  4. You can sue USCIS to make a decision on your case if it has gone too long. This is not recommended as it typically ends with a denial. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a-FPirWXg2jSXHKXE_jocaOQuNMfib_4/view?usp=sharing
  5. Here are the cases that have been in adjudication for a very long time. Cases delayed no seem to be a walk in the park in comparison.

https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/674579-k1-visa-pending-on-security-check-for-over-3-years/

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/678537-5-7-months-is-too-long/

It's impossible to understand the process because there are so many influences acting on your case and at different times, and that information you don't have access to. This is a good time to get a hobby because this is how it works for every step of the way.

The waiting doesn't stop there. Next you'll wait for your interview, after that you'll wait for the visa, after that wait for her/him to arrive in states, after that wait for SSN to arrive, after that wait to get married, after that wait for the marriage certificate, after that wait for the Green Card, after that... Do you see a pattern here yet??  It's all about waiting. The sooner we understand that the easier the journey.

I notice on the case inquiry page it says

NOTE: We are actively processing your case if, in the past 60 days, you:

  • Received a notice from us about your case,
  • Responded to a request for evidence, OR
  • Received an online update to your case status.

We've received none of those in the past 60 days or anything since we received NOA1, does that mean they're not even processing our case yet?

No one. No one. Did I just stutter, No I didn't. Your case is in for processing. They  didn't promise you a date they would be finished. They won't tell you what process your case is in. Calling doesn't move your case along. I'm going to give you some reading material that will enlighten you on this process.

Ughhhh. I just noticed that in my I-129F for my dad's country of residence I accidentally said the state that he lives in instead of the U.S. Should I wait to amend that till after I get NOA2 or try to contact them now to amend it?

Send them a letter explaining the problem. Here is an example of the letter to use.

This letter has worked for others to correct errors or for missing documentation or errors that you would like to update, correct or add.

Waiting to hear something from USCIS I’m on 192 days now  I did submit case outside of normal range which they did respond saying that they are working  on my case i hope I get  approval notice because I been waiting for so long 😢 I’m afraid to get  RFE  or denial because is only going to delay my case more if I get RFE don’t even want to think about the denial

Same here. Still waiting 😤 I’m officially 6 month plus 1 day. Monday I’m going to file my inquiry with USCIS. Because yesterday they told me still shows pending. T2 was useless as its been lately.
