It is normal. We were approved 2/25 and just got our case number 4/2 so over 4 weeks.

As I said in my post that this is not a requirement and you can choose not to participate. You indicated that you prefer not to so I will not ask again. The little information you provide is not something that can be used to do harm to you or your visa journey. Would commonality of names cause a delay in processing? My fiancé has a very common name, so maybe I can blame this all on him.  I guess sometimes it’s fun to guess what went wrong, plus it keeps me busy and off case tracker lol

Yes common names can and do affect background checks.

I wouldn’t worry - both of us have very very uncommon names and were at 170 days+ now.
