Feeling stressed out about everything visa related right now. We received our NOA2 over a month ago now and still nothing from NVC... I was hoping to at least have gotten a case number so I could do my DS-160 and have my medical done.

I have rhinoplasty surgery (a nose job) in 4 weeks. I don’t really know what would happen if I were to have my medical after the fact. Do they ask about previous operations during the exam?

My plan was to get my new passport photos taken before the operation because my face will be puffy and swollen for a few weeks after surgery, but then maybe they’ll want the photos to represent my face even after surgery. Anyone have any clue? I’m stuck. I feel like I have enough to be stressed about and this is just driving me crazy.

Typically we are seeing about a 4 week delay in the case being received at NVC. Then anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks for the case number to be assigned. So you are right there almost at the front of the line. Just a little more waiting.

Can I recommend something. You're putting undue stress on yourself with this visa journey and then you are adding surgery on top of that. Put the visa on hold. Just let things play out with their own time. Concentrate on your health and when you are ready for the medical you'll have your case number and had completed the DS-160 to use for the exam.

At the medical exam you will be asked about prior surgery's but they are looking for surgery's that you have had for contagious symptoms. A nose surgery is not one of those that will cause you any delay.

Here is what they examine when you are at your medical.  DS-3026

Thank you so much, this was exactly what I needed to hear. I’m going to concentrate on my health and let the visa happen at its own pace. I will check out what you linked as well.

Great. Good luck with the surgery and we hope to see your return to VJ once you are healthy and feeling up to "stress" again. :D

Man I can't get over it approvals have been smoking October , November now December this is such good news for all of you. 120+ days approval times, that was unheard of back in May the norm then was 175+. Very good I'm happy for all of you and hope you all get through before this accelerated approval trend slows down again.

Just be glad you're almost there. NOA2 is the last long wait on the K1 step. Some filers here haven't even got that far.

Yes you don't have to tell me, I understand  what you are feeling exactly, unfortunately there are ALWAYS a few cases that take longer mine  was one of them. The good news is you will get approved, stay in the game keep your stress low it's coming!!!! April is your month.....

It's funny that all three of us have 11 Oct as our NOA1 date and we all are still waiting. It can't be a pure coincidence.

Me too. It was hard enough seeing November filers being approved, but now December filers also. Now I'm just trying not to obsess about it as much as I was doing lol.
