Thanks! This helps a lot and gives us hope. Because of our research we thought it wasn't possible to do this because we thought having green card was necessary. Thanks a lot!

You're welcome!

We haven't even met yet when he got stationed overseas. Yours sound like you're already married?

But yeah, he might be able to request an expedite for you, but if it's so urgent (like within the month), it might be too late.

FYI, i also experienced getting my CR-1 visa expedited. We were moving to the US from Japan within 2 months was when he requested it. He had his squadron commander write a memo/letter explaining the need for expedite.

Yes, we are married already, and he is in the Air Force. We just got our NOA1 a month ago, so we still have a long wait unfortunately! Not enough time for me to get the green card unless we try to expedite our case, so we wanted to know if there were other options.

I believe I was way past the NOA1 stage when we asked for an expedite: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=122828

But who knows, it might work! Maybe have your spouse call the military immigration hotline? And find out if it's possible to expedite. Maybe you can come to the US prior to you all leaving for an overseas assignment.

But, if it doesn't, I believe you can still get SOFA visa. For that, he has to request through his new command.

You would likely enter Germany on a SOFA visa but with the SOFA visa, you could pursue the CR-1 via DCF in Frankfurt (this is a lot faster and takes between 3-4 months). Ask USCIS how to either expedite or push the process into a DCF filing.

I'm retired Army.  Since you'll are already married, you can get Command Sponsored.  Your husband should have already added you  as his dependent, enrolled you in DEERS, etc.  Your husband needs to see his S-1 and the transition center section that deals with cutting orders and they will tell him everything he needs to do to add you to his orders.  You can even get your dependent ID card at the US Embassy where you currently live.  Again, he needs to visit his S-1 and they should square him away.

How did your process work? How long did it take you to move to Germany? I am in the same situation and totally lost.

When i made this post in the end my husband didn't get the orders to Germany, but he now got orders to somewhere else in Europe, so we are trying to find out what to do and we have no idea honestly
