Got a case number for our case, its supposed to be on its way to london now - it was assigned on the 14th - it still says its at the nvc when i checked the CEAC website but from the call nvc said its on its way, not 100% sure on what to do now - do we fill in the ds - 160 form now or after we get a notice that our case has been recieved by the embassy- and how soon can i schedule the medical exam?

Question and apologies in advance if this question has been asked already (I've looked through the pages before asking but wasn't lucky in finding the answer or may have looked over it) but I was able to finally get my case number today. I've noticed that people are able to see the status of their case or track their case, may I ask where you are going to find this information?

I've gone on the CEAC website and entered in the case number but it just takes me straight to NVC website with the instructions on what to do and what to fill out, etc. I also know that DS-160 is what we are able to fill out now that we've gotten the case number, does it have to be the beneficiary that fills it in or can it be the petitioner? (side note, it keeps timing me out and closing me out of the application, has that happened to anyone recently?) Could anyone shed some answers :)

Yes I filled it out as my fiance. And it kept timing me out. And I am still waiting for the nvc number. Just called again. Nvc received case 11/13.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that is experiencing that! I actually had to wait a whole week to get my case number, they received our case on 11/9 and I just got my case number and invoice an hour ago. Hoping you get yours soon!

We got our NVC case number (and invoice? number).   Case was received on Tuesday, got the number today!

Well, I thought this was the magical number, but I go to the Embassy's webpage to try to schedule the appointment and I get this:

The Immigrant Visa case number provided is not ready to schedule an appointment. If you have not received an appointment letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), you can check the status of your IV case at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc.html.

If you have received an appointment letter from the NVC or an instruction letter from the Consular Section directing you to this website to schedule an appointment, please make sure to correctly enter your IV case number.

If you continue to receive this message, please send an email to the CSRA support asa_contactus+co+ivcasenumber@visaops.net with the following information:

  • Email Subject line must read “Case number not ready to schedule”
  • Applicant’s complete name
  • Applicant’s date of birth
  • Scanned copy of the National Visa Center (NVC) or Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) appointment letter or the appointment instructions letter received by the Consular Section.

Emails to the CSRA support will be responded to within 3-4 business days. Do not send multiple emails because this will delay the response to your inquiry.

Regarding filling out the DS-160 for me to avoid it timing out I saved it after I completed each page (or 2)....it worked for me.  😎

Now that you have the case number it'll take some more time for them to ship your case....once it leaves NVC you "should" be able to schedule the appointment

Ah, ok!  So I have to wait until the second ship date at the end of the month, which is fine.   I'm just anxious to keep moving along!

Now a days it's most uncommon to hear that a case has been sent to an embassy as a single case. Most are bulk wrapped for shipment and sent out every other week. Next shipment is scheduled to leave NVC on 11/27&28. Until CEAC shows in transit, I am sure that it is sitting waiting for the shipment to be released on the dates I gave you.

Well, here is what you do next. DON'T ask some one from German, Norway or Spain what you should do next. I never can understand that logic. Sub-forums are set up just for that reason to answer Embassy specific questions. What's done in Spain is not necessary what will take place in the UK. Believe I see this all the time so I am not just calling you out but others as well.

Read this information and pay attention to the link for the sub-forum for the UK. Every single question can be answer with the links and or through the S-F.
