So @Greenbaum et al,

My fiancé went for a B1/2 visa back in March or so...it was denied. ok fine.  But she did her biometrics during that process.    Will she have to do that all over again for the K1?

Are you referring to the medical when you say "biometrics"?

Called NVC.  They received our case yesterday!   NOA2 date of 10/22!  And yes, she gave me the standard scripted reply of "could takes 8 weeks to get a case number".  Hopefully I can get it by Friday?

Not the medical.  Maybe I'm using the wrong term?  I mean the process where she went to get her fingerprints and photos done.

I think you should change the initial post instructions from approximately 2-3 weeks to on average,  which by definition would indicate that 50% are quicker and 50% are slower.  This would eliminate being called out for somehow providing information that might be different than actual results and not being in conflict with nvc canned 6 to 8 week response

Agree.  I’ve been following timelines obsessively in recent weeks.  Average seems to be 20 elapsed days with some taking almost a month .  Reading the intro I was expecting 2 weeks.  Ok; misreading.

But 3-4 elapsed weeks seems like more useful guidance.  Perhaps the USCIS increased processing average to NOA2 from 5m to 5.5m minimum due to increased volumes also applies to this step.

When that post was written it was the beginning of Oct and cases at that time were on that course. Fast forward two months and now USCIS and NVC are pushing to get cases complete before the onslaught of the holidays. If you read the last sentence I say "your mileage may vary" meaning things can change and/or they may be different for you. And they are now different for most but there are few that it is taking longer.

Biometrics is the right terminology but I wanted to be sure before I answered as I don't want to assume or do I know 100% that someone is using the terminology properly. For you I say you it was used just fine. Fingerprints will be taken at the interview and photos you will provide for medical and/or interview. Check your P3 letter for requirements.

I went to www.dhl.com clicked Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, on this page you add your search info..You change the day and month to what you think your's might have left NVC

EXAMPLE:

* Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A ( change 24 to whatever day it leaves from NVC and month to NOV and change 2011 to 2018, leave the "A"

* Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011

* Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011

Account Number - Leave this blank

the NVC have received my case but no case number yet. my NOA2 was 19th of October. The agent was stressing the fact that they can take up to 8 weeks to create a case number. Hopefully it does not take more than a week.

Here in Brazil, yes, we need to go to the ASC (Applicant Service Center) to do it again, regardless of having done it before for other visas.

Before October, it was all done at the consulate, but now we need to book one day for biometrics at the ASC and a different day for the interview 🙄

I repeat: here in Brazil!

It's been a very quiet day today for case shipments. Normally we here from some who have been set to in transit at CEAC but nothing. MY GUESS is that your bound to be on the next batch in 2 weeks.

Hello everyone,

Just called NVC and they confirmed that they received my files from USCIS yesterday 11/13.

Although the agent told me it takes about 8 weeks for case to be assigned, I hope that moves a bit faster :)

NVC’s standard response will always be 6-8 weeks, when in reality, your case should have case number assigned the following day. Try calling tomorrow and then the day after until you get the case number. Your case number will indicate the city-year-month&days-Number of files received.
